Design Source - Description | I made this quilt for my mother. There are 35 blocks with each one representing a memory of her life beginning with the families of her parents and ending with the marriage of my youngest brother. I was inspired by Jinny Beyer's Block-A-Week located on her web site and chose the churn dash. I fell in love with Jinny's fabric choices as well and placed my picture choices in the center of each block. The quilt is both hand and machine quilted. It truly was a labor of love. I had heard many, many times from different quilters how a quilt takes on a life of its own. This quilt was the first one for me that did just that and as I made it, I really felt that I got to know my mother even better - it truly was a wonderful experience! |
