Wendy wanted to capture the movement and determination of her son as he sped along his way in a duathlon.  A sketch, then templates were made from a photo. Each template was traced onto freezer paper then MACHINE PIECED together and machine quilted. (40.5" x 44.5")

The story continues for this quilt. It is part of the Lost Quilt Web Site... it was stolen out of a classroom while Wendy was teaching. She is hoping some day it might reappear.

This week's puzzle quilt, Birth of a Star, was created by Wendy Butler Berns.  She writes, "As a star is born, I imagine a gigantic embryo writhing through the universe. I picture gases building until the pressure is so great a huge explosion occurs, creating fiery, neon colors that shoot and dance across the sky."

The quilt has Machine applique, bobbin drawing, embellishing and machine quilting. It was completed in January, 2002 and measures 44 1/2" x 44 1/2."
