Bonnie created this quilt with the help of her friend Tonya in Florida.  The challenge was to share each other's smallest pieces and use them to create "crumb blocks. The quilt is made up of 3.5" blocks.  To see the free pattern and learn more, click here.  The border reads "True friends are the Brightest Scraps in the Patchwork of Life!"

Jackie Got Into Aunt Millie's Garden was Jackie Aguilar's first attempt at needleturn applique, yes, her first attempt. She writes,

"Never having done any needleturn appliqué before, at the end of the first block I wondered what I had gotten myself into. Focusing on one piece at a time, this quilt was a lesson in patience and fortitude. Several stressful events occurred while I was working on this quilt and I found that the appliqué was a relaxing escape. Three years and countless hours later, I had it done."

Design Source: Aunt Millie's Garden from Piece O'Cake Designs.

The quilt is needleturn appliquéd, machine pieced, trapuntoed, embellished, and quilted on a domestic machine.

It is a multiple award-winning quilt, including Bed Quilts: 1st Entry in an AQS Paducah Contest 3rd Place ribbon at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2013.

We know you'll enjoy assembling Lotus Leaves Squared, a delightful quilt from Christine Barnes.

You can find Special Effects with Color in Christine's classroom here at TQS.  In this class she demystifies color and shows you how to choose and combine fabrics—“magic fabrics”—to create special effects like luminosity, transparency, luster, and opalescence. Get acquainted with the basics (they are the building blocks of color) and put the concepts into practice with ten easy color studies. See how “the color makes the quilt” in a number of same-design, different-colorway examples.
