Are you missing the Houston International Quilt Show? We know we are, so we thought we'd feature puzzles of past Houston Best of Show winners. This week we will be showing off Janet Stone's Garden Variety Sampler, which won Best of Show at Houston 2017. Once you've finished the puzzle, make sure to view the quilt in all its glory, including the many close up shots.

Cathy says of Western Roundup:

"With this piece, I wanted to bring the look of the traditional pieced quilt into the world of quilted leather. Beginning with one-colour cowhide, I created the illusion of pieced blocks with leather dyes. I wanted to use all portions of the hide so I layered the scraps to create the irregular shape at the bottom. No part of the hide was wasted. I then went in search of the perfect western-styled conchos to embellish the design." punchwithjudy.blogspot.com

Beautifully hand-quilted and wonderfully pieced by Kat Bowser's grandmother Edna, this Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt was made in the 1920s or 1930s and is a treasured keepsake that Kat stores in her home cedar chest. For being close to a hundred years old, it is in beautiful condition.

While he considers himself a contemporary quilter and an art quilter, Ricky Tims had to learn the ropes just like everybody else. Ricky's First Quilt was a sampler that taught him techniques that he is still using today. Each block brought new knowledge that helped him get to where he is now, as co-host of The Quilt Show!

Inspired by a super moon that hung over New York City, Teri's quilt Moon Over Manhattan holds a special place for her because it was made the year that she decided she was going to be an artist. Teri also says that the quilt has another name. What do you think it's called?

Teri says this quilt's alternate title is Little Miss Sassypants!

You can learn from Teri in Show 2707.
