Katie's quilt, Check-Mate, is made up of Mandalas based on traditional quilt patterns. For example, the one in the center of the quilt is created from a wedding ring pattern.

Star Members can learn how Katie creates her Mandalas in Show 2209: Coloring on Fabric Mandala Designs.

Katie took a picture of her "The Color of Infinity" quilt (you remember, the one she cut up on Show 1807: Fearless Quilting) and ran it through a software program to create this latest iteration of her original design that she calls "Mandelbrot in Wonderland."

Here's how Maria's quilt, Colors Unfurled, got started,

I had an idea. What if I take all the star blocks I’d made over the years and used them to make a new version of the American flag? A version of the flag that celebrated all of our cultural diversity. A version of the flag that represented not just traditional red-white-and-blue values but pink-purple-and orange values too.
