Mark created this quilt in memory of his Dad (who his kids called Poppy). His two kids are in the quilt as butterflies and Mark is in the quilt as a frog. He told his kids as a joke, "if you don't behave, I'm going to eat you..."

This was Mark's attempt at incorporating a face into a stained glass window quilt, just like Tiffany's stained glass windows. It took him over one month just to get the eyes right. We think his attempt was quite successful.

Ann writes about the flower in her quilt, "There are many unique flowering plants in the Pacific Northwest, among them is the Clackamas Iris (Iris tenuis). This rare iris has narrow petals and leaves, and can be found growing in small clearings one encounters in Douglas Fir forests. Also called a “grass iris” because their leaves grow in dense grass like clumps, these small, spring blooming flowers are easy to miss."

This quilt was inspired by the brick pattern you often see in Amish quilts. In it, Ann was exploring different shapes and using a softer color palette.
