At Houston 2016 there was a wonderful Japanese Exhibit organized by the Japan Handicrafts Instructors' Association. This quilt by Mihoko Tanaka is named A Happy New Year, "Kado-Matu" in the Rising Sun. The quilted Oriental Phoenixes (thank you CrazyCuban) are just one of the creations that caught our eye.

When people hear the name Wendy Williams in the quilting world, they probably think of her Round the Garden quilt. Featuring wonderful wool work and embellishments, it stands out most because of its circular design. This design, which you may have already figured out, is a predecessor and influence on our 2021 BOM Color My World.

Wendy Williams, our 2021 BOM designer, created Pretty Little Pots not as a Block Of the Month kit, but as a Block Of the WEEK kit. "This fun achievable quilt is designed with 52 little blocks, hence the ‘block of the week’ title. The idea is to build up your embroidery skills as you go, like little lessons each week." It's a great quilt to pot your own quilting ideas and let them sprout.

Holiday Spirit was a guild challenge for Bethanne Nemesh where she had to feature her birthday, which is December 30th. The muse represents December and there are 30 pine cones to represent the date. Made in the early 2000s, it's a bit different from what we see her doing today.

Winter Encounter is a beautiful outdoor scene quilt by Carol Ann Sinnreich depicting the cold of winter and the reality of nature. Here's what Carol Ann has to say about her work, "Snow, cold wind, predators and opportunity force wildlife to keep moving. Winter scenes are more colorful. Reflective light from snow creates a multitude of colors setting the mood and the challenge."

The quilt is 54" x 46 1/2" and is made from cotton. It is appliquéd, has machine thread embroidery, and some pigma pen. It is hand and machine quilted.

See the Full Quilt Here.

Star Members can watch Carol in Show 1612: Quilting the Wild West.
