embroidered quilts 24 Feb 2007 07:26 #1340

Two good websites for Brazilian embroidery are:
http://www.jdr-be.com/
http://www.edmar-co.com
and Quilters' Resource has the A-Z books. The one on bullions is the most relevant to Brazilian embroidery.
Basically, Brazilian Embroidery is a Dimensional embroider which uses standard embroidery stitches with some new variations and with rayon threads so the finished work has a sheen. I am also interested in silk ribbon embroidery. Has anyone have a good website for that?

Snowplow, what is a good web site that shows what Brazilian embroiderery looks like? I'm afraid that's one I missed. Might have to remedy that quickly.

embroidery on quilts 23 Feb 2007 09:32 #1317

I do hand embroidery on some of my quilt tops More often on my wearable item such as vests. I do both Brazilian Embroidery and bead embroidery (usually done as an applique and then applied to a garment. I think there are some parallells If you have any questions you can e-mail me through my profile. Also I usually embroider on the quilst label whic may or maynot be done before the item is quilted. I would like to be able to do machine emb. but probably need a new machine for thsat. I would like information about your machine and what accessories etc you need for machine emb,Thanks in advance, Ann

Latte Quilt 07 Feb 2007 12:09 #732

I started doing the Latte quilt a few years back and just recently got back to the embroidery. I have an older 180E but I have stuck with her because I think I can figure out just about any problems or designs with her. I have often thought of upgrading to a new model but this old girl is still a winner to me. The Latte has taught me so much about multi hooping, editing etc and I really feel I have gotten the most out of my machine doing this quilt. Carol :D

Embroidered Quilts 05 Feb 2007 06:10 #647

I have been combining embroidery and quilts since I purchased my first Husqvarna 1+ machine in 1996. I upgraded to a D1 4 or 5 years later and finally purchased a PR600 machine. I became very frustrated sitting and watching the machine embroider when I wanted to be sewing too. Once I purchased the PR600 machine, I was able to do both at the same time.

I probably have as many embroidery designs as I have fabric and hopefully one day, I'll use them all.

I absolutely love combining machine embroidery with my quilting, or used as the quilting. I do all mine with heavy cotton threads, versus polyester or rayons, and really love the effect it gives.

judys, I have a friend in you! :D I'm new to quilting, too, and just purchased an embroidery machine in July. I love to combine the two, although I haven't done much of anything yet other than a few quilted and embroidered pillows. Glad to meet you, and good luck with your projects! Maybe I'll get some inspiration from you!!!
