Rita, it's nice to do blackwork as you only have the one colour and it's easy to carry around with you. Some years ago I made a blackwork chess board and really enjoyed the process, it's easy to make up your own patterns. I'll try to post a picture soon.
I still have a problem with getting photo's onto the forum, my DD usually shows me how but by the time I want to do it again I've forgotten what she showed me. Doh!
