Here's my completed top:

It's good to have the top done, but I probably won't have time to do the quilting until next year.

I am in the process of doing ESS like Cindy N suggests. I have the star done and all the points. I am working on the ring around the points. Lots of stitch in the ditch. It looks like a lot of work to do every seam in those flying geese. I hope I make it.

Barb, your quilt is beautiful! Nice choice of colors and love the way they move. If you can afford to get both monopoly_s I'd try samples of each. It's the glint that you may not like. I've never bonded with the stuff myself. I can get it going along nicely for awhile and then BAM, a thread ugly. I've had better luck with Wonderfil Invisifil. Tensions still need to be adjusted & a really fine needle, but once it's set up, it behaves.

This is a fun little wall hanging to make. I really appreciated the DVD. It was very helpful. Without TQS I never would have done this.

I am glad the instructions included the generous fabric measurements. Made the stars and spikes easy to do. As well as the double seam allowances on the plain circle and on the corners. Great idea. I also can't believe I cut fabric freehand with the rotary cutter!

I have never made a sleeve for a wall hanging before. I know there are several different ways on TQS. What is your favorite way?
Do you ever put anything on the bottom to make it hang really nicely?

I usually make bed quilts with Warm and Natural 80/20 batting. Would another batting be better for a wall hanging?

I think I shall try stitch in the ditch using Cindy Needham's ESS (Every Stinking Seam) in maybe black Monopoly?? clear?? and maybe some stars and swirly's on the black moon fabric.

The colors are actually very vivid but I couldn't quite get my cell phone to pick them up properly but you get the idea.

Now I want to make another one using a really colorful background. This may be addictive.

Thanks,
Barbara

Thank you everybody!

I think I will do some "modern" quilting in the flowered areas. I will definitely SID around the star points. I just finished a Craftsy course on quilting with my walking foot. That is my favorite way to quilt.

This wallhanging will be hung over the bed in one of the guest rooms. I will be making a quilt for the bed using the dot fabrics. All I need now is time! Don't we all!

Take care,

Geneva, what I love about your colourful quilt is how the colors in the background tie back to the colors in the circles and flying geese--really beautiful to look at! :D

With the busy backgrounds I have seen here I would say you don't want to do a lot of fancy stitching that is not going to be seen.

Wow, Geneva! That is beautiful!! I like what you did with the borders! The plain borders looked a little too wide to me, but I decided that I didn't have time to change them for this go-around. I'm currently paper-piecing my flying geese and expect I'll have the top finished sometime this weekend. Then it'll go into the pile to get quilted next year since I have bunch of other stuff with deadlines. I'll start with SID and then just let my imagination flow.

That is gorgeous, Geneva! I haven't even started mine yet but hopefully will find time soon.

That sounds good. If we all keep going we will eventually get finished. LOL

I have not finished mine but am thinking of quilting in the ditch and some echo quilting. In larger areas perhaps something more organic and swirly....
Cheers
