Yes, and these two holes can also be used to pin the fabric.

Thanks for that tute link, Andree! Yours look perfect. New ways to try, but I definitely like the stitch basting, so I'll try this new way, too.

Andree, your hexies look great. I'm sewing mine together in the same method but I just don't want to do the basting. I've been using 1/4 " wide tape from Staples but I'm going to try the glue pen.
Happy hexing, Mona

Andrée, you did a beautiful job. Isn't making them addictive?

I thought Alex glued her Hexies and Mickey hand bastes. I was all excited about the glueing method, but I can't get a needle through the glue, using a washable glue stick. It's too hard. I'm ready to try Inklingo which has been sitting on my shelf for years. I was also using Stable Stuff, with an Accuquilt die set which on first appearance looks great, but not with glue. I intend to find a heavy paper to try with the die, maybe some double freezer paper. When I did get a needle through with Stable Stuff, my stitches were showing on the front. Mickey was also using a pre-cut paper, which I believe would make it easier to keep the needle on the back side of the fabric.

If others have terrific easy success with Hexies, I'd like to know their technique.

Thanks for bringing this up, Mona. Lotti, are you out there? What do you think?
Hi! I'm not an expert, but I tried this technique the nice thing about this is that you don't stitch thru the paper...

and here is a picture of my "success".

I used 100wt Invisafil from Wunderfil (polyester - I love that thread for paper piecing as well!)

Sorry Susan, I misunderstood. Thanks Beverly for the name of the glue pencil and also thanks JoJo for the tip about keeping the glue away from the edge. I'm going to the Quilters Gathering show in Manchester, N.H. tomorrow and I hope I can find the glue pencil Save me a trip to Keepsake Quilting. I'd love to see photos of all your hexie projects ladies.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL, Mona

Susan, if you are using glue for the basting, stay away from the fold or it will be harder to needle. I use Mickey's way of stitching them together (flat) and it works really well and you cannot see my stitches.

Sue Daley recommends a Sewline glue stick and I really like it. I'm making her Pies and Tarts quilt, and this glue stick holds the fabric to the paper long enough to baste, but is very, very easy to remove the fabric from the paper. You might like it too.

Mona, I know the gluing takes the place of the basting, but I couldn't get the needle through the glued edge to stitch them together. :(

Susan, You don't use glue then baste thru it---once you've glued them that's it---ready to assemble. I just want to know the name of this glue because it was so easy to pull off when you were ready to take the papers out.
Good luck, Mona

Thank you Renata. It's good to be back. I had to have an unplanned surgery and it has taken me a while to get my mojo back. I'm starting with catching up on the forums.

Susan, I splurged and purchased precut hexies when paper pieces had their half price birthday sale. The quilt I'm working on has nearly 11,000 hexies and I really didn't want to cut my own. Although, you could use the Accu Quilt Go to cut your own paper. My paper pieces are 5/8 inch which after finishing the 1/4 inch hexie quilt seems HUGE. :)
