According to Patsy, you cannot use Sizzix dies with an AccuQuilt machine because the Sizzix dies are deeper. But this may depend on the die since I think some of the depths differ. Following that advice, I originally got a Sissix die cutter. But I found the Sizzix kind of awkward to use so I ended up getting an AccuQuilt cutter also. But I don't use either much, so the Sissix might get better after some practice. Just know that to use AccuQuilt dies with the Sissix, you need to cut a piece of cardboard to include in the layers to get the width you need to make the cuts.

yorkielover OFFLINE Posts: 1	I am handicapped and when my husband and I were doing the research on both he felt that the studio was the better one to buy. It has a longer warranty and it is a much better built. The Studio will last you a lifetime. I love it, it cuts great and now you can also use the dies from the Go on it so it is like getting two in one. You won't be sorry no matter which one you buy.

It's true that the Sizzix dies are used a lot for cutting paper, but I always check the description for each die to be sure it could cut multiple types of materials, i.e, FABRICS, metallics, papers, etc. Patsy demos cutting 6 layers of "fused" fabrics with her Big Shot cutter on her web tutorial. This is a fun little cutter!

Thank you very much, Norma. Very good of you! Korsør is not impossible if we bring the car as we would try to visit Sjælland although our main stay would be in Jylland. Would be fun to visit a Danish Patchwork shop though. Not something I usually get a chance to do when we go there.

Thank you, Norma. So far the shop you link to and one other is all I have found that sells the dies for fabric - the Sizzix cutter seems to be for paper craft only here but I will persevere. I may have to wait till there's a show on to find them both to compare. Are they available in Denmark? I will be going there in spring sometime and if we take the car I could transport it easily. I don't think I would like to add them to my luggage if we fly

Hi, Susan,
Thanx for your comment and glad you read through all that verbage!

You're absolutely correct about the Go! log cabin die being able to cut 4-6 layers with the GO! cutter only. I mentioned for "comparison's sake only" that I could cut more log cabin layers with my "Studio" cutter because I have the larger tray and adaptable cutting mats for the Go! dies to do so. My point was the Studio cutter can accommodate all the Go! dies, but not vice versa. This makes having a Studio cutter worth its weight in gold for quilters who make a lot of charity or very large log cabin quilts...or any other quilts for that matter.
