My flight for today was canceled and the earliest I could get out of Harrisburg was later on Thursday. Since I needed to come home Saturday and would have already missed most of what I wanted to do I decided this isn't the year for me to get to Houston. I can't say that I am very happy right now. Weathered the storm just fine. The lights never even flickered here. My family in NJ and western PA are doing okay too. I should be feeling grateful and I am grateful. But who said you can't feel both grumpy and grateful at the same time? Truth be told I am feeling a whole lot more grumpy than grateful.

Lois, hope the hurricane missed you. And maybe you can still go to Houston. Or maybe you already are on your way. Best wishes.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, Lois! Keep checking with the airlines, though, Lois. As the storm gets closer, they might get more creative about routing people in ways that would work for you. And safe travels for all heading to Houston! I'll see you soon!

Sharon, I'd love to come to Colorado. That was not one of the alternatives my airline gave me. We'll just have to wait and see how this thing plays out. I surely hope I get to meet both you and Robin. We have to hope for the best. I am sure we will meet sometime.

Lois you could fly out here to Colorado and fly down with me. Lol Not very smart. But I was looking forward to meeting you and hope it will still work out.

Lois - what a complete bummer! (excuse language) now if only it was planned to arrive a few days later you could have been stuck in Houston, instead of the other way around.

It's like Clara said, "There will be other quilt shows." I checked into getting an earlier flight as the airlines are waving fees for itinerary changes because of the storm. But there was nothing that made sense available. Flying closer to the storm with a layover in Philadelphia where I could get stranded for the duration is not a choice I am willing to make. I am not in harms way where I am. I will probably be inconvenienced by the storm... travel restrictions, power outages, and perhaps a trickle of water in the basement. I could be stranded in my town if there is major flooding but my home is on high ground. My flight has not been canceled yet but it is rather unrealistic to believe it will go. Just like many of the rest of you I will probably have to enjoy this one from afar.

Lois, I'm saying prayers for you and everyone in harm's way of this nasty storm! And I'm still hoping it will work out that you can get to Houston this year. Hugs, Robin

Lois what a terrible dilemma. I do hope you are yours stay safe. Maybe it won't be as bad as they are predicting? Does that ever happen?

Lois, I agree with Margo! Rent a car and start driving! Or change your plane reservations! I know it costs money to change reservations, but not as much as you would lose by cancelling out on everything you signed up for! I pray you are able to come, one way or another! Take care and be safe!

Scoopie, Believe me that thought has occurred to me. I checked mapquest and it would be a 1,600 mile road trip. It would take 24 hrs driving time, not considering stops. I don't mind driving. I don't mind driving alone. But I am not up for that. I must admit that I am pouting a bit. But then when I think of the suffering many will incur - loss of life, limb, homes and livelihood I feel a bit guilty. But we don't know for sure what will happen so I am still getting ready for the trip and I am battening down the hatches getting ready for the storm.
Being in Texas and having hurricanes be a regular thing her. Please make smart choices for your safety and wellbeing for you and the ones you love. You never know how these things can turn, even at the last minute. I hate to say this, but there will always be another quilt show. There won't be another Lois. If it were me, I would delay the trip by one day and then decide to cancel. That way if you need to stay, do so. If not, we will see you. Good luck and you are in our prayers. We also have loved ones in PA. Clara
