Oh my goodness! Did she ever get any time actually in the water?! Everybody was probably ready to go home by the time she was going in. Getting a wet swimsuit on and off is bad enough but a wet girdle too! That is a workout all by itself.

Speaking of corsets, my MIL (since passed away) always wore a boned corset as she believed it helped her bad back.) That was fine most of the time.... but when we went to the beach....the boned corset and the elasticated girdle had to come off before she put on the swimming suit girdle and the swimsuit. She would usually find some very conspicuous rock to throw the corsetry across for all to see. And then there was the whole rigmarole as she changed back into the clothes again when the wet girdle and swimsuit would be thrown over the rock. I was young... it was mortifying.

I swear you ladies have way too much time on your hands. LOL Betty Jo, do I need to look for a quilt from you at the Hoffman Challange exhibit? If so, I will be happy to take a much better picture than last year. Let me know.

Sharon, My quilt will not be at Houston. It is in traveling trunk A and does have a nice schedule though. Here it is:

Thanks for asking. :D It did not win a ribbon this year. The judge said:
"piecing and applique are well done. Variety and embellishments and embroidery add interest. Painted face is artistically done. Machine quilting needs improvement--stops and starts and tension problems noted. :( Binding is well applied." I really didn't see those problems in my quilting. Maybe I need new glasses.

I was thinking of a bit more boning than that - more along the lines of what this lady is doing should keep you from wilting and flopping over http://marmaladekiss.blogspot.co.uk/  8) :P
PS check down the page a-ways there are some great pieces there!

While we are on the subject of support, do you think that you will need a truss as well, or will your ordinary set of stays do the job? :P

Is that anything like a 'supporting act' ? or are we discussing gardening now?

Not a supporting act. Not gardening. We're into hosiery.   Support stockings to help keep the fluids out of our lower appendages.   We want to prevent swollen feet and ankles. Just a normal day in the Forum. We are all over the place. 8) 8) 8)
