I've said a prayer for your daughter and her husband, Jill. They have their hands full.

I feel for you as parent as we had the same with our daughter, she has written some short stories and then a one along the same lines and we and some friends thought how great it was but no publishers interested, she has given up on it at the moment as has had a first child and three months after that her husband was told he had cancer, anyway maybe she will come back to writing as its something she loves to do.
Gosh Jill, what a tough road for you all. She probably will go back to it because writing is something kind of like quilting...you can't leave it alone if it becomes one of your passions. I will add her and her husband to my prayers.

Jill, I hope your daughter and her family are doing okay. That is such difficult news right after a new baby. I will remember them in my prayers. Lois

:) Thanks my friends. He is planning to self epublish his short stories by series, and very soon (within the next month). His first series is not fantasy, but sci-fi, but he's planning on a fantasy series also. We will, however, persevere.

And the self-published books would become collectors' items selling for lots of $$$$ on Ebay. :)

Lorchen, I was thinking the same thing. If they were able to self publish his shorter stories and an interest were built--when the larger stories come out--the consumers will be ready for them.

Consider 'self-publishing' of some material that is not with a publisher right now. It might be a start, and you never know what it leads to.

Another idea: Joint venture with Mum. David writes a story and you make a quilt to go with it (or the other way round). I would definitely buy such a book.

Betty Jo, keep up in the loop about what's happening.

Maybe you should change your thoughts about it. Think and feel how easy this is going to be. Feel how happy you will both be when this contract comes. See how many books he will be selling in no time.
Try it. It doesn't hurt anybody.
Norma, I love you all. You are so wanting to help. I do believe a positive outlook makes a big difference. Thank you for this reminder. A spot of prayer can make the difference too. It's just been a tough road for him so far, but he keeps on writing.

sending lots of luck and patience david's way - hoping we'll be able to find those books on the shelves of all bookstores soon :)
Thanks Lotti. Me too! :D We'd pull the one that has taken so long and send it elsewhere except it's our top choice publisher. I guess it just takes that long to break in as a new author with a major publisher. Shouldn't though..three years is a really long time. It will take at least an additional year after the contract is made. He's so talented. Just have to keep on trying I think. and praying...lots of prayer.
