301's are great!
They are durable workhorses and use many of the same parts as the beloved featherweight 201.
What a great gift!

Happy Birthday Joyce! I can't do anything about the medical diagnosis, but here is a link to a free PDF file of the manual for your "new" machine!!!
Hope this makes you feel better!!

Happy Birthday! How fun: a new old machine. I'm sorry you have been so tired and I pray it is not Lupus. I have two dear friends with Lupus. One is my next door neighbor, and when our quilt show is up, she grabs her walker and spends the WHOLE day there enjoying the show!

Joyce, Happy birthday and have great fun with your 301!!! I am sorry that you are feeling so exhausted and hope that even if you do have Lupus, that the appropriate meds and treatment will make a difference. I will keep you in my prayers. Hugs pam in UK

Today is my birthday and my MIL called to see if I was home and if she could stop by. :roll: She brought in a little gift bag (never very exciting from past experience) and then asked my 18 y/o son to bring in what was in her back seat.

I knew as soon as he walked in the door there was a sewing machine in that case!

A very odd shaped case but the reeking smell of an old sewing machine. I am the new owner of a pristine condition Singer 301. :D :D :D :D :D

I did a search here and in a few posts, it is listed as a FW's big brother. This one is barely used, bright & shiny finish, buttonholer, and the cover (only!) for the manual. MIL negotiated with the owner at the garage sale! heehee I didn't ask the final price but knowing MIL, it wasn't much! :P

{It is a difficult day and not feeling very birthday-ish. Besides my 4 young sewers coming for class in 2 hrs, my rhummy doc is thinking I have Lupus. Have I mentioned lately have VERYVERY tired I am?? Seriously, barely functioning. I love teaching and love these littles but have to somehow make it thru their class today and next week. :? But no need to fret this... celebrate my new 301! :) }
