Sharon I'm glad the kids are all safe. By the time old Ike got up here to Cleveland we got 65 mph winds. Not as bad but a surprise none the less. I talked to my sister in law in Texas to see how they were doing and they said the storm made a sharper turn than expected and that we got more than they did in Dallas. How strange. Hey also today is my baby's birthday too. She is 23 though. If you figure out how this happened let me know too.

I wanted to share what Ike did in the Cincinatti area. My #2DS and DIL live across the Ohio river in Covington, KY. On Sunday they experienced 90 MPH wind and the Ohio/Kentucky area and probably Indiana was without power. Thousands of trees were down and they were told 3-4days without power, but he called last night and they had power, but very old trees in their neighborhood are mangled.

He never thought that a hurricane could do damage in Ohio/Kentucky. He is from Colorado and just expected rain. You never know about the weather.

Sharon in blue sky Colorado - today my DD is 21 yrs old -- when did that happen?

I emailed Lynn on Sunday, but have not heard from her. I'm sure she is without power. There are 2.2 million without power here in Texas.

We were very lucky and only had high winds, not a drop of rain. We are west of Houston.

Our friends from Orange were not so lucky. They have been asked to stay away, for the time being.

Pat, I'm glad you were able to go get your mom. Was the traffic really bad? Glad you are back home safe.

Just saw on the news that 1600 people are being sheltered in the convention center so I guess it is ok.

And I wonder about Karen (Wren1010) - she said they were going to hide in a closet.

Just talked to Mom, she slept until 9 am this morning. She said she took a 20 minute hot shower, LOL.

Pat that was good of you to get your rescue bus on the move. I'm sure they were all thankful to get home.

Has anyone heard from Lynn? I hope there's just a power problem so she hasn't checked in, not something worse...

Pat, your mom was fortunate to have you be able to help her and her friends. Glad everyone was able to come home. Good job.

Pat, that is so wonderful that you were able to do that for your mom and those others! I am sure they must be terribly glad to be home - I know I would be :-) Blessings to you.

I had an adventure last night, LOL. Mom called from the shelter in San Antonio where they were keeping people with medical issues (Mom is on oxygen all the time) and was so disappointed. They had told her group that a bus would be coming to take them home Saturday, but it never showed up. Then they had told them one would pick them up at 3 pm yesterday, but it never showed up. She asked if I could come and get her and 4 others, so I left here at 6 pm, went to the church, which was north of downtown S.A., and got Mom, and 4 others, into our van. I drove them to Corpus Christi, to Trinity Towers, where Mom and 3 of the others live. The fourth gentleman was rather upset that I wouldn't drive another long distance to Flour Bluff to take him home, but they had made it clear to him before I even got to San Antonio that he would have to take a cab from Corpus Christi on. I was just too tired to go much farther. I drove on home, and got back to Rockport a little after midnight. Mom was SO happy to be back in her own apartment.

Pat and Sherry, glad you got through Ike okay. I talked to my sister today (she lives east of Houston) and her home is fine. Her neighborhood suffered mainly from downed trees. Judy, I hope Quilt Festival will go on as usual. I'm not going, either, but so many people have flights reserved, etc. What a mess that could turn into! Judy in Torrance

Frances, thanks for the information. Although I am not going to Houston, I am sure those that are are probably wondering if there will be a show and market. Judy in AZ
