TOPIC: QUILTING EDUCATION

22 Aug 2008 08:20 #24677

Reading quilt books and lots of experimenting!!! I finally took one class at my LQS (last Spring) after going at it solo for 7 years and I really enjoyed learning in the class room environment. Next step was the La Veta retreat about a month ago...... lots of focused learning and experimenting. I have recently gotten focused 20 minutes of sewing/quilting time each day... and I am amazed at how much my skills are progressing through that regular commitment. Mary Kay

I am just curious after a discussion we had at our last group meeting. How did you learn or ARE LEARNING to quilt?

Learned from an older quilter / relative / friend.

Joined a guild and learned from quilt members and classes.

Always sewed, just fell into quilting...

Self taught

Read quilting books

Took classes at a shop? How many?

Types of classes taken....

Took technique classes
Took a class to learn a specific quilt block/ settings

Watched DVDs, quilt shows, etc to learn techniques and gather new information.

I am hoping to spark some interesting stories and comments... I find this forum full of stimulating persons who are so great at sharing. It is always nice to know that others share the same passions.
