Ladies I know some of you were already praying for my Mom thru her Bone Marrow Transplant, so you also know why I haven't been on the board in a while, so what a JOY to come on today and find this thread at the top of "posts since last visit" (I had to print the list b/c I know I'll never get thru them all today) So here's an update: The transplant was on the 15th, for her it was just like rec'vg a blood transfusion (thought of you Ann, plus my Mom's name is Anne) but for my brother, the donor, it was a lot more uncomfortable. They expected to have to "go in" about 6 times to harvest the marrow from his hip bones but it took 11 times to get enough, so he was hurtin'!!-- but it doing ok now, his wife's in med school so it's nice to have a Dr. in the house! Anyway, Mom now goes in to Johns Hopkins daily for blood tests & infusions of whatever she's low on (potassium, magnesium, platelets, whatever) but besides feeling weak & sometimes a bit nauseous, no signs yet of rejection. This will continue for 2-3 months, every day.
But next Monday, my Dad goes in for a hip replacement! He's in good health otherwise, but I'm afraid he won't be as easy a patient as my Mom is! He's quite stubborn, and I will be his nurse here (my other local sister is in Baltimore w/ my Mom, my sis in NJ is her back-up, my brother is coming down here from CT to help w/ Pop when I get a much anticipated vacation mid-August!)
So keep those prayers coming, we all believe in the power of prayer, and I will add these new ones to my list.
And about the baby who died, sometimes my prayers are just that God will do the right thing--far be it from me to know what that is, but hard as this will be for them, it may be easier than the alternative. Ritzy I know you have great faith and that will help your daughter and her co-workers thru their challenges as well.
Love and thanks to all, Florence
