TOPIC: The Prayer List

29 Jul 2008 13:52 #23080

Ladies I know some of you were already praying for my Mom thru her Bone Marrow Transplant, so you also know why I haven't been on the board in a while, so what a JOY to come on today and find this thread at the top of "posts since last visit" (I had to print the list b/c I know I'll never get thru them all today) So here's an update: The transplant was on the 15th, for her it was just like rec'vg a blood transfusion (thought of you Ann, plus my Mom's name is Anne) but for my brother, the donor, it was a lot more uncomfortable. They expected to have to "go in" about 6 times to harvest the marrow from his hip bones but it took 11 times to get enough, so he was hurtin'!!-- but it doing ok now, his wife's in med school so it's nice to have a Dr. in the house! Anyway, Mom now goes in to Johns Hopkins daily for blood tests & infusions of whatever she's low on (potassium, magnesium, platelets, whatever) but besides feeling weak & sometimes a bit nauseous, no signs yet of rejection. This will continue for 2-3 months, every day.
But next Monday, my Dad goes in for a hip replacement! He's in good health otherwise, but I'm afraid he won't be as easy a patient as my Mom is! He's quite stubborn, and I will be his nurse here (my other local sister is in Baltimore w/ my Mom, my sis in NJ is her back-up, my brother is coming down here from CT to help w/ Pop when I get a much anticipated vacation mid-August!)
So keep those prayers coming, we all believe in the power of prayer, and I will add these new ones to my list.
And about the baby who died, sometimes my prayers are just that God will do the right thing--far be it from me to know what that is, but hard as this will be for them, it may be easier than the alternative. Ritzy I know you have great faith and that will help your daughter and her co-workers thru their challenges as well.
Love and thanks to all, Florence

Ritzy my prayers are with your daughter and all the fire fighters. My continued prayers go out to all.

I have a friend, Nina, who was just diagnosed with throat cancer....she starts chemo this week and would appreciate all prayers. Prayers coming from all around the world are amazingly powerful.

Ritzy I'm so sorry for this family. I would just like to repeat what Judy in AZ said. Also please know that I will be praying for your daughter and the other fire fighters who must deal with this also.

Ritzy, that is so sad but you have to know that God didn't want that little baby to suffer so she went home with Him. It will be hard for all concerned to come to terms with her death but to know that she is at peace should be some comfort. Thank you for sharing this with us. Judy in AZ

Well, ladies, my daughter called last night (she is a volunteer fire fighter). She was really upset, though she did say that God's hand was on her because she doesn't know what she would have done if she had been the one to find the Kidd baby. Anyway, DD said the baby died yesterday. The family is really going to need a lot of prayers--the baby's brother is the one who started the fire playing with a lighter. The officer and firefighter that found her are really struggling also. They all feel it is their job to protect kids from fires and that they failed. I could do nothing more than pray for my girl and these men. Thank you again for your faithfulness.

Lisa and on the test that were done any results yet?
Happy how is you BIL job hunting going?
Please tell him there is hope he may not be young but companies do value knowlege.
I do not know how old he is. Or if they gave him a severence package but I do know that my girlfriends father is a greeter at Walmart and is living quite comfortablely off his severence package from his old job and retirement and Walmart paycheck. That and he loves it. So does his wife. He's out of the house again.

Thanks to all for including my husband Don on your prayer list. His Protime count is finally where it should be so he is done with the Lovenox injections. (I don't know why they call it Lovenox - sounds so benign! But I can tell you no one LOVEs those shots!) Anyway, the clot is slowly dissolving, and he is still taking it easy. We did a little traveling this past weekend (a birthday and a wedding) and he did fine. Now it's just Warfarin for several months, and frequent blood tests.
I am praying for everyone as well, even though I do not always comment. Isn't it great that God is intimately interested in all of us, and all at the same time?? Blows my mind.

Rachel,
I haven't heard how my friend's daughter is doing. I saw the mom at Mass yesterday but didn't get a chance to talk to her. My mom is MargaritaW and she is feeling much better. My back is doing really well, I am still on only one pain med a day (used to be 3) and by decreasing the pain meds I was also able to decrease my allergy meds.

Margarita isn't it amazing how bad a simple urinary infection caon make you feel. I am relieved to hear that it isn't a stroke.
Ann I will pray that your health as always holds out. I after benefit greatly from your wisdom and when you are in the hospital I do not get it so freely.
Judy keep heeling and keep us updated.
Austin how are thing going down there?
Oh How is the back doing?
how is mom doing?
I can't find my paper but you know who you are and I think I got the right body parts and person.
Ritzy, Amazing things are done everyday in medicine. Plus God takes all children to heaven. I know this is not the answer you probably want but he is working through that little girl on more then one person. Believe me. I know it doesn't seem fair or just. Have faith through that little girl maricles will happen. Major maricles you may not ever hear of them or if you do it may be years down the road but they will happen . This much I know for certain.

Thank-you for all your prayers. But keep them coming. I am home now. I have a bladder infection, got a huge dose of antibiotics, have to go for a follow up visit with my Dr. and also for another test on my heart. They have ruled out any kind of stroke. Thanks Frances for asking for the prayers.

Please know that I am praying--I probably won't make comments that I am--just know that I am.

Kidd child--at church this morning they said her name is Daygon and she is 26 months old. Not only is she burned over 90% of her body, but one of her lungs is burned. They say she may have brain damage. I am struggling with this as I believe God can do anything--so I am praying for His will for this precious little one.

one step forward two steps back 27 Jul 2008 14:06 #22932

right after I posted that I was feeling great, I had another attack of my anemia. When it starts I feel like "a cat on a hot tin roof" can't sit can't stand can't laydown comfortably so end up pacing around until I decide to go to the emergency room --- this time at 1:00 a.m. OF COURSE WE ARE IN A NEW TOWN AND THE DOCTOR IN ER THOUGHT IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD(don't you just love them at times like that LOL) so he sent me home after giving me a strong pain med and a muscle relaxant. Well at least I got some sleep and then we went back to an internist the following day. He listened WHOO HOOO and said that even though my hemoglobin was not that low, I was short of breath and showing other symptoms of anemia so he prescribed two units of blood. When I went back the next day my hemoglobin was now almost within normal limits. So now I am back on the road (just don't know where it is going LOL) and hopefully will stay that way through August and September. I want to get through La Veta retreat on the healthy side. So keep me in your prayers I never know when I am going to need them . Hugs to all of you, I don't know what I would do without my TQS friends and supporters, Ann
