love and hugs in a hard time 05 Dec 2008 22:09 #29297

Joan, there is no good time to lose a parent. We want them to be there for us just as we want to be there for our children. Please know that I care about you and your family and am praying for you to have peace and understanding about the next phase in your lives. I hope that you will figure out the best solution for your Mom. Having to be a caregiver to your parent is not easy but we do what we can do. And in the end all I can really say is what I say maybe too often. But God is Good, All the Time, All the Time is Good. When we know and lean on that the rest goes away. Ann

well, my dad is now my angel in heaven. He died today about noon, so my husband and I are driving down to Florida tomorrow. My mom is ok, the dementia is helping I guess, my sister really needs prayers, she is a wreck. And we need prayers to know when is the right time to move mom up here with me. I know it will never be the "right" time exactly for everyone, but my sister needs to get on with her life, and now it's my turn to take over. My guys are all grown and she needs to take care of herself. Thank you all. Somedays I may not answer or respond, but know that I like checking in and seeing your smiling faces! Gets lonely in an empty nest! Take care and thanks for your prayers.

Rachel,
You are in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. I know there are really no words to make it better, but know that there are so many who care and pray you find comfort and peace with God's love.

Rachel, I'll be praying for you and your family. remeber the Lord doesn't give us anything we can't handle. Let your sister know that it's ok to cry. Ya'll can sit a nd cry together if it helps. This is the beginning of a long road for her, and your family. God Bless!

sharon has it right 04 Dec 2008 22:00 #29264

yes we need to cry and we need to cry together sometimes. Life is not always a happy road. I have been there done that and sometimes wish I could go back to the days when I hadn't had to face the hard issues and grief but there is no going back. We have to move on. As hard as that may be. And again and it may see trite I continue to say God is Good, All the time. All the Time God is Good. (thanks Patti for your comment about that) but I know in the deepest part of my heart and soul that it is true and I can never find anything that describes my life and beliefs better. So I will say it again. God is Good, All the Time, All the Time, God is Good. Ann

Rachel's brother in law 04 Dec 2008 09:38 #29240

Rachel, you said that you were trying not to cry in front of your sister. She may think that she has to hold in her tears in front of you. I think she needs to know that she has someone (you) who can let her be herself and cry if she wants to. Just sit down with her, hug her and both of you just cry till it's all out and I think you'll both feel better. You don't have to say anything, because you can't fix the situation, just be there to hold her. I read recently that stress hormones (or something like that) have been found in tears. So let her cry. She needs to do this. If she tries to keep everything in and not grieve, it will take her so much longer to get over this and she could end up with stress related illnesses.

I hope this makes sense. I'm just a firm believer in crying in situations like this.

I'll be praying for you and your sister.

First of all - Thank you Ann for your simple but so profound God is Good, All the Time, All the time, God is Good. It has become an embedded phrase for me. It so captures what I believe too. It all comes down to that in our trust of Him, doesn't it?

And Rachel, how much you have to deal with - it's amazing! I'm so sorry for the loss of a man so dear to you. I pray you, your sister and your family will feel God's comforting arms around you. Glad your bro's surgery went well today. I was thinking of you often today.

:) Hi all, I am home for the night. This has not been the easiest day for me. Greg, has been in our family since I was 4. He was a very special part of our family. He used to tell me he married my sister because I was too cute of a kid to walk away from. I have lost a big brother and it has been very hard for me today not to cry in front of my older sister. I will be fine though because I know what role I must take at this moment. I really do sincerely thank all of you so much for the prayers though. Hopefully someday my life will be a cherries and roses. Right now though it is diffinately the pits and thorns. :? My brother came through his surg. without a glich by the way. Thank God because I know this is one family that can not handle much more.
Rachel
