Judith, initially the more saturated jewel colors did look more vivid but I think my brain has adapted and now there is more balance in how I see saturated colors. I did notice it mostly in purples, cobalt blues and greens. I am enjoying it all and taking everything in without glasses and it is very nice. Thanks for all the tips and level of detail--I will keep your comments in mind. I did have progressive lenses before the surgery and my temptation is to go back to them in exactly the same manner you described. Thanks for all your good advice! :)

Renata,
Can you see colors more vividly now? When I had cataract surgery I was surprised at how much more colorful the world was. I hope you are enjoying the autumn colors.

One tip. Make sure to wear UV sunglasses outside and to get reading glasses with UV protection. You lose some of that natural UV protection when your natural lens is removed in cataract surgery.

Also, I have an inexpensive pair of reading sunglasses that are a big help to me when driving. They are sunglasses with a little reading close-up area near the bottom of the sunglass lens that enable me to read the small numbers on the speedometer, etc while driving. I saw a display of them at Sam's last week in Sam's reading glasses section.

When I got prescription computer/reading glasses after my cataract surgery, I got progressive lenses with 2 focal points. I had mine made to focus on the bottom of the lens where I would normally read at my desk (which is also the distance I need to see at my sewing machine, so I can see exactly where my machine needle hits the fabric) and to focus in the middle of the lens for computer work. The top of the lens is clear with no magnification. This lets me sew and watch television at the same time. I measured those distances at home, and then went in to the eyeglass place and told them exactly what I wanted.

Happy seeing and sewing,
Judith

Getting the gunk out is good. Tell him to cough it all out, get plenty of rest in between and all will be well.

Thank you Lotti for posting my request in the correct place. I talked to Loren this morning and he is still weak and disgusted by what he is coughing up. Glad he is coughing it up ;)

I will be going to the hospital to see him in a bit. Thank you ladies for the prayers--I slept well, just not long enough. I will give you an update as I get them. Oh, Loren did say the doctor said he isn't going to be going anywhere, anytime soon. Hugs to you all.

Lotti, so nice of you to ask. I'm doing great. Had second surgery on Wednesday this week and Thursday morning the surgeon cleared me to drive my car again with two "new" eyes. So far, I see distance beautifully but it's a bit of a curse: I now see EVERY SPECK OF DUST ON THE FLOOR AND FURNITURE! Will need reading glasses for up close and will wait the one obligatory month until eyes stabilize for a prescription set of reading glasses. I will touch neither the rotary cutter nor the sewing machine until that time: with my luck, I'd slice a finger or sew over it! In the meantime, I'm knitting up a storm with my cheater glasses!

Ritzy, I hope Loren is doing much better this morning and that you managed to get some rest last night knowing that he was in good hands. I wish Loren a speedy recovery --my thoughts are with you both and hope you feel the warmth of this wish as it flows your way.

Thought you should know, please add your prayers for Loren & Ritzy / she posted this over on another topic during my night...

Forgive me for posting this here but I am a bit stressed and don't have the patience to search for how to get to the prayer list.

Just returned home after leaving Loren in the hospital with pneumonia in the lower lobe on his left side. Please pray for him. He wouldn't eat or drink so he was very weak and kept trying to get up (without help). After getting him off the floor for the second time, I called an ambulance. Can't you just see the picture of me picking up a 232 lb man. It definitely would have gone viral if anyone were there to film me putting a sheet under his arms, while standing on top of the bed, to pull him back in it.

Only one bruise to my knee from the experience.

Thank you friends, I am going to try to get some sleep--who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Marilyn I am thinking of you and sending hugs, emergency admissions to hospital are such a shock. You will be in my prayers. Remember to be kind to yourself, we spend lots of our time being kind to others and forget to do it for ourselves.
