I was able to get more quilting done on my bed quilt, and it is a little over 2/3rds done. Today I need to make a trip to JoAnnes for needles. Theres a sale on notions so its time to refill my supplies.
Then I 'll be back to my room for more quilting. Well, atleast thats the plan. 17 yr old home sick and 14 yr old will be home early because it is finals for the first half of the school year. Cheryl
I finished my round robin Crazy quilt block yesterday. And I got 5 pieces sewn on my while I'm in the car or waiting quilt today. This is a foundation pieced quilt. My foundations are printed on muslin and I sew it all by hand.
First I taught 4 lovely teenagers how to use a sewing machine and they all made pretty pillowcases. I'm sure I'll see a few of them again.
Next I made a placemat for my guild from a Xmas block that someone else had made in the guild. We're going to donate them to meals on wheels or a nursing home. My daughter asked "why a Christmas block - it's so far away?" True, but not everyone is as speedy as me!
Next I put the binding on a table runner and then fixed the sleeves on a sweatshirt that DD gave me for Christmas. They were quite long and it was simple to cut off the cuff, trim a bit away and sew the cuff back on. It looks like new and fits just right.
I just love sewing!! What a great way to pass a gloomy afternoon!
I worked on my grandson's contruction zone quilt today. It is really a no brainer but I sure was having troubles. I measured wrong for the border It would have been OK but the ends were pieced so I had to figure out how to adjust in the middle. Does that mean I have no brain : I finally got the top done. Now it's just the backing and the quilting and the binding. Why does it always feel like DONE when the top is done : Gloria thinking I won't thaw out til Spring
I got some more dyeing done yesterday. Ran out of dye again . So back to the computer to order more lightening medium. If they are working on Monday, I should have it by Wednesday or Thursday, if not by Friday. So then I came in and started working on my Crazy Quilt Block round robin. Have to have my part done to exchange on the first Friday. I also have to go back and look at my feathered star. I don't like some of the points, I don't understand how they got chopped off. So that's on my list for today, unless we go to the movies.
I am making a series of quilts for the family very scrappy but using my ITALIAN RENAISSANCE ANGEL fabric as all the fussy cuts. All my BOM have used this fabric and I should be able to get about three quilts... on from me ( 1st) one for my daughter (2nd) and one for my niece.
Hummm!!!!! ITALIAN RENAISSANCE ANGEL. Sounds so beautiful. Can't wait to see the finished project.
As for me, It is snowing once again in the N. East. Hopefully I can get into my room and work on a few projects without interuption. Wish me luck. Cheryl
I worked on my BOM block for GRAND MOTHER's Favorite... we are doing Mosaic #10. I am having trouble with my cutting technique... my arthritis allows shifting when I cut large pieces / strips. My solution is to over cut the fabric and then cut it into smaller sections. I do better cutting small section of fabric.
I started a new BOM on Saturday.. we are doing PIONEER SAMPLER by Eleanor Burns. I like the block's methods because they are over size and trimmed to size. I love doing BOMs.

Posted a picture or the border I am in the process of putting on Round Robin #4. The border was tricky as I didn't have much fabric to use and I always make an error somewhere so that kept the day interesting!
Also worked on my challenge quilt. With the help of DD, I have a plan for the borders and look forward to to getting the top finished this week. Can't post a photo of the challenge quilt until after the guild meeting. . .it is suppose to be a secret! Terry
Worked on my quilt for the guild challenge that is due in February. I have the top completed. . .now I need a border. . .Glad that I am this far! Terry
I was on retreat, so I was lucky to sew from noon Friday until 3 pm today. I made 2 more of my red and beige 21" blocks (each has 165 pieces!).
I made good progress on a new quilt of neutrals that will be for our king bed. Large 1/2 square triangle 9" blocks alternating with anvil blocks (small squares and 1/2 square triangles). It was fun mixing and matching the fabrics I've collected.
I cut and sewed most of the top of a One Block Wonder quilt. I've decided to give it to my oldest and dearest girl friend who will turn 50 in Nov. No pressure there!
Lastly, I did about 1/2 of the machine quilting on my Kool Kaleidescope quilt. The back puckered badly, but it's a wall hanging, so hopefully, no one will need to see the back! I've been trying other ways of basting and they just don't work as well as the old-fashioned pin to the carpet and get on hands and knees. I don't think I've done one that way since we got our little dog. It should be interesting the next time I need to!
Tons of snow here in western NY. DH is achey from so much shovelling! Stay warm and sew! Nancy
