Yesterday was a play day. I had been planning on going to BIL's with the guys, but decided to stay home with DD instead. Got the fabric for my pinwheels prewashed. Then went to pick up DS's car from the shop. Got up there too early so went to the quilt store to pass the time. I found the ceramic marking pencil that people have been raving about. I also bought a couple of patterns. One was for a fabric wallet. I bought it because I bought a new camera last week. It's small enough to put in my pocket but I want something to protect it. This wallet sounded like the right size. You can make two from one FQ. It took me about half an hour to make one, would have been less but I did a decorative stitch around the flap. I also got some more work done on my circle quilt. DD and I spent about an hour taking pictures on the way home from getting the car also. It was a really fun day.

While my DS recuperates I have been working on my Arab quilts for the sale in May. Made patterns, fused fabric, painted details on 10 different pieces in the last 2 days....sandwiching and quilting will begin tomorrow. I am having such a fun and creative time. I only wonder if none of them sell where will I find all the wall space to hang them and who is getting which one for their birthday :?: :?: :?: I also hope to work on my BOM to maybe catch up one of these days.

I am almost finished with both my quilts for our quilt show April 4th and 5th. All I have left to do is my labels. Probably will not get pictures till the quilt show.

Not getting much quilting done this week... my sister and her new hubby are coming on Sunday for a visit. So I am doing my spring cleaning early this year. But that means no ( machine) sewing til after their visit. I have a couple of hand projects I am working on... they are artfully displayed in the living room as if they were a sewing display instead of a work in process. I am thinking of setting up a hand work area in the living room with a light and nice wing chair so I can work on my projects there.

I do have a FOUR HEARTS class on machine quilting techniques coming up this Saturday... Some cobwebs will still be there when they come to visit... TOUGH.

I brought my UFOs to our guild to enter in the UFO CHALLENGE... The idea is you show and tell your quilts UFO projects and your name goes in a drawing at the Christmas party for every completed project. Only projects show and listed at the beginning of the year can be listed. You can win a really nice prize basket. Last year one girl finished 46 projects, but the lady that won had only entered 4 projects. It was a nice event and the ladies who participated last year thought it was great to be motivate to finish projects.

I've been working on several things. Got the borders on my One Block Wonder, posted to show and tell. Liked how it turned out. Got backing and binding fabric yesterday.

Hand appliqueing 2 borders for the Baltimore Elegance quilt that I have the top almost done for. Berries to sew on and then I can put on these borders and the others.

Calculated and drew the scallops for the borders on a hand quilting project and then drafted the swags for quilting in those borders and began working on them.

Finished quilting and binding my family tree quilt for my sister's birthday and wrapped and boxed it to mail. Very cold today in NY, so I'll just stay inside and sew!

Well I'm stalled on the four patches. My DS has a particular idea for the order they go in (I'm only using 6 colors) so he is supposed to be sending me a drawing by the weekend. So yesterday and today I've been working on my circle quilt that I started in a guild workshop in January. I had 1/3 of the circle done. Each third has 8 sections in it and each section has 14 fabrics. It is all paper pieced. I have 4 more sections done and 8 fabrics on 4 more sections. Then I still have 8 more sections to make. DH has had a stomach bug since Saturday night so I've had time to sew because he's vegging on the couch. He's feeling better today.

I re-finished the binding in one of my quilts for the quilt show in April. Finally back to FEB BOM. I have one 8 four patch, and one 10 four patch sections done. I find it quite time consuming to get them done. Maybe tomorrow the rest of them   Then I still have the star to do.

I finished the first of my quilts in the Arab Themed applique wall hangings. My goal is to make at least 10 by May 15th to take to the Aramco Brats reunion where I will have a sale table in the Suq (arabic for market place) Tomorrow I start another one. None of which will be bigger than 20 x 28. The photo is posted on my blog if you want to take a look see! Karen

I got the four corner triangles made and put on my feathered star. I divided each triangle into three pieces and am using three different colors. I ran into a little trouble making them. I cut out the triangles and drew the lines subdividing the triangles. Then I paper pieced them. Then I added a quarter inch seam allowance around them. Then I couldn't figure out why my triangles were too big. :? So I then cut out another square of freezer paper then sub cut it into triangles. I ironed them onto the triangles I made and trimmed the extra off. Now they are sewed on and look great. I like what genevacarroll did with her four patch borders. I might play with that a little more, so I might not start working on that until next week. DS is having a lot of input on this quilt. He will be home again on Friday, so we will be discussing the quilt again on Saturday.
