I wanted to add my congratulations to making it to 100 shows. I remember how heartbroken I was when Alex's TV show, "Simply Quilts" was discontinued. I also remember how impressed I was with the classy way Alex reacted--no back-biting or hatefulness, just gratitude and looking forward to the future. The affection and respect between Alex, Ricky, and the entire staff are apparent on the show and throughout the website. All of you have worked hard to give good service and continually improve. Your success is well deserved and may you have hundreds more great shows!

I'm finishing up my Dear Jane and putting the blocks together and decided to use this technique b/c there are so many many blocks and intersections. It really did make it lie better even tho I wasn't able to twirl the intersections I could press each block in the best direction. It alternates between a DJ block and a plain block so the DJs get the special treatment they need. Much better.

Karen, could you show us a picture of the back before you quilt it so we can see how the seams lie???

I liked the show a lot too. I finished a wallhanging (the top) a couple of weeks ago that was a kit called Midnight Garden that I ordered from a magazine. The directions in the pattern were to clip the seams and open up the little center in the 4 inch finished stars. It worked great. The little stars lay nice and flat. I need to get it layered and quilted so I could show a picture! Happy quilting.

I am intrigued by the idea of cutting into the seam allowance but worry that it will weaken the seam, although I appreciate that unpicking stitching on a major joining of seams will weaken that area too. I adore David Taylor's work!

I hope to someday get a chance to attend a David Taylor workshop. His quilts should once and for all put to rest the argument of whether or not art quilts are quilts.

Ditto Kim. I'm not a Harry fan nor have I read his books. Almost feel like I shouldn't admit that. tee hee After all, it must be like saying you have never read the Bible! ha I don't get it but my PhD daughter has read his books over and over and over AND OVER! : : : :

Jo's seam clipping idea was certainly a new idea to me. Something new to try. I can definitely see where that would be helpful when it come to the quilting step.

I also love David Taylor even though I must be the only person on the planet who is not a Harry Potter fan. I saw David's HQ sit down in the corner of his studio. Whoo-hoo!

WOW, I have twirled centers and clipped seams, but never thought of putting the two together. I just tried it on a UFO and can not believe how flat the block is. Goes to show there is always something to learn. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

A great way to celebrate #100 Ricky and Alex. Having been here for all the shows (since week #1) what fun to watch the team grow and change but yet continue to bring all of us what we need to stay challenged and excited about all the directions we can go with our fabrics and needles (and dyes and paints and beads and sequins and threads!) Yes, Jo, isn't it wonderful how many directions we can take it - and still all be one community? Something to celebrate in this world of negative news.

Yes, the clipping at seam intersections is wonderful! Since I'm kind of a neat-nik this really will help with pressing and sewing over seams! Woo Hoo! Thank you Jo!!!

I have been the fondest of David Taylor's methods since I first saw his animals. And having watched him at Quilt Festival on the HQ and now having seen the shows on TQS, I almost feel like I've been able to have a sit-down conversation with him. I even called my husband away from HIS computer to watch the David segment. I just wanted to invite him over for a fabric session! ha

What a terrific show....just enjoyed it this morning and want to congratulate TQS and all of you who make this place hum with excitement everyday. Jo Mortons quilts are beautiful and I think we are all over the top excited about her tip of clipping intersections to make the blocks lay nice and flat....Thank You Jo! As always I enjoyed David Taylor and love his outlook on life and his quilts and why he does what he does.....and that is making fun, awesome quilts that capture us all.
Again....Happy 100th show, can't wait to see the next 100 and beyond. TQS staff and members all rock!

What a great show! I actually got a bit teary at the end agreeing with everything Alex and Ricky said. This community is amazing! I have new friends around the world with whom I have shared their quilting, their joys and their sorrows and their love. I could NEVER have imagined 4 years ago how much my life has changed since the beginning of TQS. Thank you so much ARJJ and all my TQS friends.

Yeah!!! We made it to 100!!! I am so happy for TQS and all of us who have been along for the ride. I have learned so much on this show and seen so many different quilters. Made so many nice friends, and had a great time. The 808 show was great, and I love the tips Jo Morton gave us on piecing and pressing. I enjoyed seeing David Taylor's studio and learning more about his Harry Potter passion. This is such a wonderful place for us to be.

And of course I enjoyed the footage of David Taylor's apartment! I went to Steamboat Springs last year to see his exhibit and I so glad that I bought the book at the exhibit. It contains great closeups of his work. I had David autograph the book at one of the workshops (ahem, workshop number 4!)
