TOPIC: I want to watch the shows on my iPad

Re: I want to watch the shows on my iPad 31 Aug 2010 16:31 #49518

Too funny, Phyl~ Those were the very words used by the salesperson at the Apple store about Flash... "memory hog." LOL! It's unanimous. (Java apparently gets along better.) Yes, it would surely be nice if the older shows could be converted to a friendlier system, but I'm delighted to hear it confirmed that recent seasons at least play so well.

I can't wait to be an iPad-er. ;)

Im a die hard apple user and love my ipad. Im also lucky to have a friend who works for apple The reason apple wont ever allow flash to run is because it is old technology, a memory hog and one of the worse for viruses. I love watching the tqs shows on my ipad. No issues with clarity or sound at all. I just wish the older shows could play on it because it would be great to go back and rewatch them again. Its great sitting in my comfortable chair opposed to an uncomfortable desk chair at my Imac. HTML5 is slowing becoming the new standard and how cool will that be when we can view everything on our Ipads??!!!!!

Just bumping this to see if there are any more recent experiences to share? ;) I'm hoping to buy an iPad myself within the next four weeks, and was just curious. :D (Looking to get the 3G/WiFi one.)

Thanks bunches!

Apple is not going to fix flash. Adobe does not have a version of Flash to run on the iPad or iPhone. Adobe has been trying to build a version of
flash for three years and has not been able to do it.

I don't know what TQS is using for video for season 6 and 7 but it works on iPad. I'm sure that TQS will use this going forward.

Yep, it's all about flash for the iPad so until Apple fixes it, I'm afraid we're stuck here. My iPad gives me the same flash messgae!

Yup, what Joe said about the hit and miss on the iPad. It's nice having at least some stuff viewable on it. Obviously things are being ironed out as we move along. :D

Margarita and I got our iPad on Wednesday the 30th. I got to work setting it up and of course had to try "the quilt show".
It was fun watching Margarita running the show while sitting in her lounge chair in the living room!

I did some checking on the quilt show site. here's what I found:

Shows 601 on will run on the iPad and iOS, ( what Apple now calls the OS for iPod, iPhone, iPad).

Some lessons will run some will not. You have to try it and see.

Smilebox will not run. Smilebox is all Flash so don't look for it to run anytime soon.

Adobe has been trying to get Flash to run on phones, small video devices (iPod touch ect.) and now iPad, for about 3 years.
So far they haven't been able to make it work.

It is no small task to make the change from Flash to a new video system. This is not a mater of throwing a switch, it takes a lot of work.
There are large companies who are not willing to make the investment. For a small group like TQS to do this is very impressive!

Good work all you wizards behind the green quilt!

I don't have an iPhone, but I do have the iPod Touch. I checked to see if I could watch a show on it using a wifi connection, and it seemed to work fine. At times I wish there was a mobile version of TQS for the cell phone, such as some other websites have, but I don't know if that would be pratical or not.

Two of my kids work for Motorola and have the Droid. They totally love them aside from the fact that talking on them is like talking on a piece of toast.

Joe says that the Iphone, the Ipod touch, and Ipad all run the Iphone operating system ( OS). The Iphone OS will not run Flash. Apple will not enable the OS too run Flash now or in the future. The Video material needs to run in HTML5 and H.264 the new "standard" for internet video.
Flash Video is on its way out.
