TOPIC: I like THE QUILT SHOW because .......

03 Jun 2008 19:46 #19224

I can't pass up this opportunity either. From the beginning, I have loved this site and that was even before the shows. It has just gotten better and better. Everyone else has done such a good job of listing the things that make this the best place ever so I won't repeat. Just THANK YOU TQS :!:

When else can you pay your "therapist" for thirteen sessions, and have "group" Thank you, TQS!

Being the only quilter in my circle of friends can be rough at times however: here at TQS I can check in and get my fill of quilt related discussions.

I simply must add my ditto, ditto, ditto to all the comments made here. I honestly believe it is the best investment I've made, just for myself. I watched all the "episodes" of the rhapsody blog at one time and it was a hoot, to say the least. Looking for the bear, a closeup of the cabin, excitement about the fish being alive through the winter, etc, etc. Plus all the rhapsody information. I haven't tried one yet, but there are so many beautiful ones in people's profiles. It just seems a bit daunting for me. I have made three convergences, and will try to branch out into some of the different ones in Ricky's book. THE TQS IS WONDERFUL :!: :!: :!:

Without getting REALLY sappy....TQS has gotten me through a really rough year. The friendships and the support have been "just what the doctor ordered"!! It's always felt like a safe place to play and learn and share.
My thanks go to the staff and all of the TQS members for being an important part of each and every day!

The forum and all my new "friends" there are my daily(usually more than once) connection to the world outside my home. I enjoy the member blogs and ,although I have fallen a month behind, the BOM is going to be a beautiful addition to my collection. The classroom lessons with Ricky and Alex are terrific even if I never get around to making a quilt in their specific styles and their blog entries are always fun and informative. I must say that although I have broadband internet I am not always successful in viewing the programs for whatever reason and am very grateful for having the option to own the programs on DVD. These are but a few of my reasons for hanging out on this website...keep up the great work!! Sally in soggy NE Ohio

It is like a group of old friends, now. I can get honest advice - concern - can care about others....and can look, learn, read about quilting 24/7! Woo Hoo.

I have really enjoyed meeting so many quilting friends here. I love to read or watch anything that comes by pertaining to sewing or quilting so all the other stuff on TQS has just been a real BONUS! Karen

I, too, was terribly disappointed when Simply Quilts was no longer. As a new quilter, I learned so much from that show! And then I would pass on to my quilter friends anything new I'd learned. Now I'm doing that, triple-time, with what I'm learning on TQS! Isn't it funny how much we resist change, and so often, it really is for the best? Also, I decided to do the BOM at a time when I was very anxious about my future, and whether or not I should even look that far - (a whole year!) I appreciate the new friends I've made here and their encouragement! TQS is the best, and quilter friends are the best. Thank you!

Sue's Night Before Christmas is so tempting. The only think holding me back is that I have so many things already on my list I want to do. I don't know how much longer I will hold out. Applique is my favorite technique.

Just one part of this site that I am really enjoying is the BOM. Applique has always been something that I avoided if at all possible and dreaded doing. However this design was just too appealing to pass up, and now I'm hooked.

So hooked that I have started doing Sue's Night Before Christmas BOM that started in April. As a comparison of value, these blocks cost $6.00 + S&H ($8.00) At that price, the TQS BOM would cost $96.00, but we get it as part of the membership and there's no waiting for the pattern to arrive in the mail. I can't begin to put a value on the Rhapsody videos or Alex's classroom videos.

The people who limit themselves to just the shows are really missing the richness that this site offers. At least I think so.
