I used the Companion Angle Ruler to cut the QST and the Easy Angle Ruler to cut HST from 2" strips of fabric. No need to trim or mark just cut the pieces the right size, sew them and voilà :!: I learned this from Bonnie Hunter/Quiltville.com - here's a link to a blog post with a free pattern where she shows how to use the rulers. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2012/01/free-pattern-story-time-stars.html

thank you very much for showing this trick and for the link. I have got the Companian Angle Ruler but never thought to use it for this. I will look for the Easy Angle Ruler next time I visit a quilt shop.
I just had a good laugh seeing the centres of your stars. The "Boo" jumps right out at you. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, everyone. I've enjoyed these classes and seeing all of the different tops each of you have made.

That quilt top looks great Annis. If I lived nearer I would quilt that top for you, happily. :D

Looks wonderful, Annis! I love the movement that the turned blocks add to the quilt. And your colors are just so gorgeous!

Here's my finished top. Since my design wall is packed away I took the picture with it on the floor. If the ladder had been taller and my arms longer I could have gotten it more square.

I sewed the blocks together in a hurry so didn't get perfect points, although they're close enough. I decided not to do any unsewing until I accidentally sewed through 3 layers. The block on the right got caught in the seam. I believe I unsewed one more time but that was it. The narrow borders are mitered because of that one way background fabric and I used fussy cut corner squares on the outer borders.

My backing, binding, and crumb catcher are prepared. I put strips of the sunflower print that was originally going to be the borders between strips of the leaf print. I'm not sure when it will get quilted. I could do the SID and let Rita do the FMQ if she lived closer!! The quilt sandwiches I made a couple months ago for practicing FMQ haven't been touched yet. At least I have good intentions.
