Ok, someone put the 2009 BOM into EQ6. I can't find it in the forum, does anyone know who did it? Are they willing to share? I'm starting to think of colors for the quilt and would like to play around with it.

Hi everyone --

Already, I am chomping at the bit to see what you all choose for your 2009 block of the month! The fabrics that I was given were not ones that I would normally have chosen, so putting them together was quite a challenge! But the beauty of this quilt is that it is very scrappy... whatever you put together will work well. As one of you mentioned, it is nice to have an "anchor" fabric or "focus" fabric; I have always found that if you have one, you can just pull colors in light, medium, and dark that you see in the focus fabric. If your focus fabric is a floral (and it doesn't have to be!) and has pinks and greens and blues and yellows... then every shade of those colors can be used in your quilt and will, in the end, meld in and look great. If you have one or two that really stand out ("zingers"), all the better; those are great for some of the floaters (the little unpieced inner borders). I can't WAIT to see what you all do! You have amazed me and inspired me with your choices during the current BOM; do it again, please!

I must be the first one up this morning! I just love next year's project! I am so glad we get 2 months to think of a color theme for this one. It definitely has scrappy elements in the stars in the borders, but will need an anchor fabric in the background to bring it all together. Sue's floral fabric is just wonderful. Can't wait! This is gonna be as great as Christmas!

That was my thought too Carla. I can't make up my mind about what I want to do. I have a bright pink and geen and orange collection that might make up a 1/4 of the quilt. I will have to see what I can pull together. Gloria

I've posted a picture on my profile of the fabrics in the 2009 BOM kit. I didn't realize there was so much and so many different prints. The fabric is fantastic for anyone thinking about the kit.

I bought the fabric in Houston also, it was a tough decision - fabric or not but in the end after feeling it so often, and my friends telling me I HAD to have it, I did buy it. The feel is great too! What a beautiful quality to it. I'm not sorry I bought it now, I would have been disappointed had I not purchased it. Trying to get together a bunch of fabric that I don't normally collect would have been difficult and more costly. It was a wise move for me.

The 2009 BOM is absolutely gorgeous; and although it looks quite intimidating, I'm going to join in the fun. Paper piecing hasn't been my favorite technique so far but this should help. I should perfect points by the end of the project also. I'm hoping to add some new fat quarters to what's left from my 2008 BOM. Of course, I'll have to come up with a great fabric replacement for that beautiful floral. I've even convinced one friend to join in the fun and attack her tremendous stash for the project.

Happy, if you will click on DAILY BLOG (on the top purple bar) and scroll down to October 30 you can see Sue's original quilt that shows the colors that are in the kit that will be sold in the TQS Shoppe as soon as they get the fabrics cut. My version was done mostly with scraps and my profile also shows two pictures of all the fabrics I used. This quilt will be wonderful done in any color theme that suits your fancy!
