TOPIC: Meet me in the Chat Room on March 5!

The chat was great tonight....I only got to stay about 25 minutes of it since I had a meeting to go to, but it was good to be able to read the rest on transcript. I'd sure come to show and tell in LaVeta....what fun :D

I had my January block almost finished and my friend Camille came for a visit this week and she thought I was playing a joke on her. And as she was laughing very loudly and almost falling out of the chair, she said, "Dana, that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen, what were you thinking"? I could not believe she said that  And by now I was laughing too. Now, I had not really thought of it as ugly.........just different. She kept saying that she could not believe that I had spent all that time hand appliquing this block. I have to admit, it is a bit wild, maybe I'll put it on a blog someday, but in the end, I decided that I really could not do 12 blocks with that background.........so I'll just keep it as practice. It was sure worth all the hours of work on the block just to watch Camille.

So now I have started over, thank goodness, it's only March. I'm starting with February's block.......I can't stand the thought of appliqueing those stems and leaves for January again right now. I'm so excited about this project and at least somebody got some enjoyment out of my rejected block. :D

Okay you peeked my curiosity, I want to see this block. Please post when you are able. I can't imagine it being that bad.

I am sorry that I missed the chat, I am never able to get on the computer in the evening.

Where do I find the transcript?

I had a wonderful time in the chat last night and hope the Ricky and Alex will allow us to have a BOM Show and Tell in the fall of 2009. :)

If this does become a reality, we must find a hotel where we can all stay so that afterwards we can have a BOM party and I promise to have Cake for all the cake eaters and something else for those who do not partake of cake!

Imagine how much ruckus we could all start at a restaurant. I'm smiling now just thinking of all the chatter and laughing and being able to finally meet each of you for real.

Florence, I am definately in for a road trip. I was trying to keep up with the chat but I have company in town to celebrate my daughters 7th birthday. I just finished cutting out my pieces for the March block. Have a great day everyone.

Dana, don't you dare throw out that block!!! Turn it into a pillow or something. I just can't imagine you making anything that is really that ugly, but if it is you can always turn it around or sit on it when company comes  Seriously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and even if your friend thought it was ugly I'll bet someone out there will see that block and think it is wonderful. :D I'm with you on redoing the January block though. Mine is nearly finished but this one was meant to be a practice block just to learn on first. My fabric I ordered for this project came in a week ago so once I finish the practice block I will start February with the REAL fabrics. I think what I will do is either wait until the BOM is finished to redo the January block (that'll let me see how much I improved 8) ) or maybe if I catch back up I'll start it between other months projects. My "practice" block is destined to become a throw pillow for my couch.

Wow, was it wonderful in chat last night or what! It was my first time and it was a fascinating hour. We all learned so much. As soon as it was over, I went to the shoppe and ordered a pin...didn't even know there was one. I wear all my pins on a fabric "scarf" I wear to meetings and will add this new one. I'm starting on the March BOM...those stems and leaves will be a challenge, but I can do it!!! Can't I??? Sorry, Dana, that yours didn't turn out as you hoped. That can happen, as we all know.

I read the transcripts and it looks like you had a lot of fun! I was busy helping with homework and stuff so I missed the chat as well. I'd be happy to leave daddy in charge of the homework-helping and run away to La Veta! Count me in! (Oh yeah -- is there any of that cake left?)
