THank you all so much for the encouragement! I think the quilt police are on vacation! Quilting has been my therapy through this nightmare. My dil was diagnosed at age 29 when 5 months pregnant. Had mastectomy and began chemo before delivery BJ 5 weeks early. Finished chemo 6 months later then was clear for a year then had a recurrance in November last year. She's on cycle 3 of chemo now and we're praying that she won't have to have radiation. BJ has been diagnosed with sensory integration disorder and mixed cerebral palsy. And he's the youngest - he has 3 older brothers - 5,6,10 - each with their own health challenges. I'm proud of my dil and admire her strength, but this recurrance set me back a bit so that's why I'm making this quilt for how my emotions have been this time. The first block is actually my angry at God block but I didn't stay angry for long. I'm anxious to start adding my first hint of color in the February block and by the end of the year, it'll be all color! What fun!

Cathy, you are doing a wonderful job and the meaning behind it is awesome. What a wonderful way to deal with such a horrible disease. I pray your dil will be fine.

Your block is beautiful. If quilts could tell their stories. Thank you for sharing yours.

Our quilts CAN tell their stories if we make labels! Why was the quilt made? When? Where? By whom? For whom? And that's just the beginning. Future generations will appreciate it!

The thought and symbolism behind this block make it even more beautiful than it already is. Great job!

Wow! I love your color choices. The star really POPS. If you didn't mention that you did it backwards, I wouldn't have even noticed.

Where's the pattern police when you need them. Ha! Your block is beautiful, and you can't tell it's not just like it's supposed to be. I just finished a fusable block and put the arms on the wrong side, but I really can't tell it's wrong unless I look at the pattern. Oh well! I'm working on another Sue Garman pattern. My fabric kit isn't here yet so I'm keeping busy on other things.

Cathy, that is just beautiful! I love it on the dark background. I am so sorry to read about your DIL's cancer. She is blessed to have you in her life!

I just posted mine to my profile. A bit different. I'm doing fusible applique and got every stem backwards! Oh well. We'll say it's artistic license. Anxious to do next month now.
