I have finished to month 5 and have started month six. At Christmas I ordered the Heather Feather Dies 1 and 2 but only received Die 2. Have just discovered that my Quilt Shop can't get the Heather Feather 1 Die so I have ordered it from Sarah herself. I have to wait 2 to 3 weeks maybe a month--I live in Canada--before it will arrive. I have started month 9 to keep ahead so the project doesn't stop dead. We are also in the midst of a whole house renovations. Except for my sewing room.

This quilt is a real challenge which I like because it pushes my brain to learn more.

Carolyn, I have used clear packing tape and a crochet hook to tape a horizontal spool pin thing on my longarm when I need it. I don't see why you couldn't do that on your Grand Quilter. I lay the crochet hook with the hooked side not sticking out, perpendicular on top of the longarm and tape it down so it sticks out enough to put the spool on it. Then I push a paper clip over the end of the shaft of the crochet hook and push it up to meet the spool to keep it in place and stop it from spinning. Works a charm!

Any strong thin shaft type thing would work... maybe a chop stick or even a Purple Thang? I can take a picture of my set up if needed...

Yes, the thread feeds off the Spool from the top don't have a way to lay the spool on the side.

What do you mean "the thread feeds wrong for monopoly"???

I use it on my HandiQuilter all the time! If you mean it comes off the spool the wrong way, do you have a horizontal spool pin accessory? That allows the thread to come off the side of the spool instead of over the top. Maybe you could rig something to make it work?

I'm sure your quilting will be beautiful! You have the perfect aIttitude! And I can't wait to see how you quilt it!!

I am soooo in agreement with Nancy on your attitude towards quilting--I too am sure it will be beautiful. As a new quilter, I really do surprise myself occasionally with how much practice has made a difference in both my confidence with quilting and the actual quilting. I have a long ways to go but your mindset of how to approach it rings so true! I look forward to seeing your Sedona Star! :D

Nancy is right, Carolyn! Great attitude! Personally, I have trouble stitching "in the ditch", and I'm usually stitching "near the ditch".
For that reason I almost always use MonoPoly thread in the top, so it's not so obvious when I get off track! I just loosen the top tension enough so that the bobbin thread doesn't peak to the top.

Ok, this isn't about starting Sedona Star, but about starting the quilting on it.
I guess I have a need to put it out there that I have it basted and have started
the stitch in the ditch thingy. I am not that good at it, some of my stitches have excaped the
ditch...I thought with the star piecing it might be a good idea to stitch in the ditch to
stabilize it. before I do all the fill in I plan on doing.
And there again, I'm not that good at it, however, this is how I think about it...
If I am happy with it, that's what matters, Yes, I will see all the imperfections in it.
I strive for perfection, but settle with what I do. I get better every quilt.
