Geneva and Ritzy, I love both of your quilts! I am finally ready to put on the 4 patch border. My inner spacer border turned out to be 1/2 inch wide. I'm thinking that the outer spacer border should also be 1/2 inch wide so it doesn't look funny. Margo, is there enough room in the next spacer border to accomodate the extra width?

My quilt center measured 44 inches across the centers, but was 44-1/2 inches along the edges. So, I cut it based on the center measurement and eased in the excess, which I think was from the applique border flaring some.

Wow Geneva -- your quilt is amazing. I'm sure you do need a break -- please find something easy to do for a little bit.

Ok, Here's April's 4 patch border! I couldn't figure out what to put in the corners and made 4 HST of green and brown, but it just wasn't right. Then my husband walks in and says "Why don't you put big diamonds in the corners?" This is why I married him! I'm really pleased with how this quilt is turning out. Now I will draft the tree blocks and take a little break from this quilt. I need to work on something else!

Annis, It IS truely amazing! I love your "small work!" My little HSTs that I sliced and diced, are now 1/2" finished, and doable. And, you know the two squares that you have left over after the two cuts? I can put them together, sew diagonal, corner to corner, and have a third HST of the same small size!

The April border for my Christmas quilt is posted. The quilt now measures 25 1/2" and the four-patch blocks are about 1" finished. I had to do some unsewing to get them scrappy so it took a little longer than planned. For a few minutes I didn't think there was going to be room for the floater between the borders and couldn't figure out how my paper pieced blocks could be short 1/2", then after placing the border against the quilt I realized I'd forgotten to count the seam allowance. No baskets for this quilt or the mini either. I've come up with something easier to do on the mini which will save me many hours of time. I will just have to admire everyone elses's baskets.
