I just took a second look and the seams on my lattice border are twirled the same way as Margo's. My mistake. I was thinking counterclockwise but was looking at the front side of the block, not the back. I'm getting a lot done on the computer on these icy days, but I'd rather be sewing. Maybe I will find time this weekend.

I spent hours today, cutting fabric for the lattice border. I cut and cut and cut. Then I practiced sewing a few together. As I have not paper pieced in years.....I proceeded to sew a few backwards....I folded a couple underneath each other, accidentally sewing THOSE to each other.....and on and on. I think I threw out a total of about five...but I did finally get the hang of it. :D I sewed a total of about 20+ squares...........YIPPY!!!! However, it took me most of the afternoon...oh my. There is always tomorrow!

I haven't cut any yet but still plan on doing so. Now that I hear we're getting some signed blocks there may be a few I won't be able to cut. I was wondering how they would fit on my quilt, then remembered the border so they will go at each corner. Alex on the top left because she's left handed, Ricky on the top right, Edyta on the bottom left and I guess I will have to sign one of my own for the bottom right since I'm making the quilt. If I get any more signed ones I will have to get more creative with the border.

Annis, I am in awe! And I love all of those little left over HST! I was keeping back one of every combination HST that I have made for the big exchange, and BECAUSE OF YOU, they have now been cut in half, then halved again. You have inspired me to think mini for a furure project! I'm loving it!

I know it's gotten lost in the shuffle, but there are a couple of ideas about starching in this forum topic including a couple of ways to make your own:

Wow! Annis, your tiny blocks are amazing!! Diane, good idea about the Stable Stuff -- think I'll try that, too. And Geneva, have a wonderful fabulous trip! We'll all want to see photos when you get back!

Re: Month Two Ruffled Roses 02 Feb 2011 10:22 #56289

I just printed out 10 copies of the 2-1/2 squares to be used in this month's BOM and I used RICKY TIMS' STABLE STUFF POLY instead of regular printer paper. I do a lot of paper piecing and I don't enjoy removing the paper...the arthiritis in my thumbs objects to the exercise. With Ricky's Stable Stuff you don't have to remove it...it becomes a soft layer of fibers when the quilt is wet or washed.
