Oh, Robin, blue and yellow/gold is one of my favourite colour combinations and that border fabric is beautiful. What an amazing variety of absolutely stunning quilts there will be at the end of the year with so many different fabric and colour combinations. THis is so exciting to watch!!

Okay, I've been fabric shopping and oh boy, am I excited! I mail ordered the stripe fabric, which I'm going to use where the cheddar yellow is like Margo did with the strip in the Beloved Beauties version. The rest I found today at the quilt store. This is a different color combination for me, so I'm looking forward to it! You can't really tell in this photo, but the little dots of gold in the striped fabric are really wonderful.

I already have my fabric :) I took advantage of the half price sampler sale at connecting threads on "cyber monday" and ordered about 80 fat quarters!
That is perhaps why I am so anxious to get started! Doesn't matter, I don't have time until the first of the year to start it anyway! lol
I have to wrap up one other quilt I have on the go, it won't be quilted but it will be ready to quilt. And I still have two customer quilts to get done before Christmas (those should be done by the end of day tomorrow though)!
I just like to whine! LOL
I'm not sure what technique I will do yet. I may try your machine technique, if I don't like it I'll fall back on using freezer paper and starch :)

If you are going to try my machine technique, be sure to get your Stable Stuff from Ricky's web site. I recommend the yardage because you will need larger pieces for the stems of the block designs and there isn't as much waste for appliqué pieces as with the 8-1/2" x 11" pre-cut sheets.

 I still can't make 'em post the directions early! Besides that, the kits aren't ready yet! But....I promise that they will be worth waiting for if you are planning to use them!

When the directions are posted on January first, even if you don't have your fabric yet, you will still be able use the patterns to prepare your appliqué supplies. If you are doing needle-turn appliqué, you will be able to prepare your templates. If you are doing fused appliqué, you will be able to prepare your fusible product. If you are planning to try my turned edge machine appliqué technique, those tutorials will be posted and you will be able to prepare your foundations and templates. Or maybe you have another technique? Let us know what you are doing! Inquiring minds want to know! :D

I like this site, thank you Peg. Here is my problem--do I want to make it fun or sophisticated? No, I can't do both unless I combine them in the same quilt.

JoJo, I haven't stopped smiling since we got off the phone! (my husband's beginning to wonder what I'm up to :D !) It was lovely to hear your voice, too! I like your stadium idea -- wouldn't it be wonderful!! Your design is going to be lovely! And it's all your fault that I now want to make two versions of this BOM!

Okay, I'm ready!

I finally got a poinsettia flower that I like and conferred with Robin via telephone, which was the first time I've heard her voice. We've emailed a lot back and forth, but never spoken. It didn't take very long to hear that tender heart of hers coming through and know that she is one that laughs easily -- it felt like we've known each other forever. I had a smile on my face the entire time. I wish we could all magically be picked up and dropped into a stadium together. Now, that's a play-off I would enjoy attending. Can you imagine the sound of all of us together laughing and talking a mile a minute! Quilts flying all over the place and oohs and cheers reaching up to the ceiling only quietened for a moment until others join in the chorus. It's good to dream!

I still need to simplify the flower a little more (the right side of my brain gets a little too into it and forgets that this must be able to be sewn together!). I have in my head how it will be laid out but will still need to redraft the first month once I actually see January's pattern.

Okay, back to Christmas rush orders!

JoJo, I'm eager to see what you've come up with! Judging from what I've seen of your designs (your blocks for Margo's quilt and the quilt for the Garmans), you'll come up with something absolutely amazing that we'll all be drooling over! I've sent you an email with my phone number if you want to bounce ideas around. Hugs, Robin

Your photos sure make me ready to start this project. I didn't think I was going to be able to but I can thanks to a wonderful and generous quilt show friend. I will be using my stash and much of it will be scrappy. I look forward to you additonal hints to Sue's wonderful instgructions.
