Wow! I am so happy for Sherry and feel so priviledged to have been able to follow her journery with this quilt so closely. Thank you Sherry for making this "our trip" too through your hilariously funny blogs. They've entertained us, taught us and helped us all become better quilters. Yep, I agree with whoever said, "I feel like I won too!" That's because we did. Sherry made it for us all and we won!

Ditto to everything Lois said. Having been along for the ride, I think we all have a certain sense of ownership or at least kinship with this fantastic Quilt! So happy for you!

Congratulations also to Janet and Ricky on their great successes!

Happy, happy, happy Dance! :!: :P   :!:

Totally awesome quilt! Congratulations. I've only seen pictures so I imagine that in person it leaves one speechless. Yes, it feels like one of the family has won, so we all feel the pride too!

On our way to Houston yesterday, I told my mom that I bet Sherry had won Best of Show. After they started the big winners I looked and there were only three quilts left, then two and the name they called wasn't Sherry's. I'm so glad I was right. I saw "America, Let it Shine" in Columbus and it is stunning.

Just the best news we could get. Congratulations Sherry! You deserve this, particularly after the near disaster earlier in the year! And I am so glad your family came with you to witness this momentous event.

Did you know that Karen Stone won 1st place for her "Mutton But Letters" and Ricky Timms won a 1st place for "Lifelines III" as well. Were there any other TQS winners?

A good day for TQS at Houston I think. :D

Here is a video from the Paducah show in April where Sherry's quilt took the workmanship award.

If you Google "America Let it Shine" you will get several great photos.

Sherry, through Facebook and this forum I have felt the excitement building for Houston. Although I am not there this year I have been before and had an amazing time! For me the best part was meeting other TQS members I had got to know online. However this year you have taken things to a different level! As Eileen Keane said somewhere else 'I feel like I have won', Have a wonderful rest of show :-) :-) :-)

You guys will be blown away at the stunning quilt if you ever get to see it in person, it just glimmers. I am fortunate enough to call Sherry a friend and last spring I went to her home (we live 1 hour apart) to ask some quilting advice on my Amazon Star. She had America on her living room floor with a few others to show me. I about fainted!!! I got to actually touch it and see it 2" inches away, IT WAS WONDERFUL!!! And she gave me great advice on my quilt. I was screwing up my courage to just enter in the local county fair, which won a blue ribbon. She is very humble and very funny and has an amazing gift. Oh, BTW she quilted that baby on a little Bernina with a very small neck. Unbelievable. I leave for Houston in a few hours and can't wait.
