TOPIC: AQS Des Moines 2011

Re: AQS Des Moines 2011 03 Oct 2011 00:51 #69955

I just got home from Des Moines. The quilts were spectacular! I was so happy to meet Cathy Friday morning for a quick hug and hello. My friends and I also met Carol Moellers for breakfast and visiting Saturday morning. I was lucky enough to run into her later at the show for more chatting and picture taking with our quilts. She will be posting some photos or a Smilebox soon. The weekend was great fun and I am "done in"!

Margo, my quilt , Mutton But Letters, won Best Machine Quilting. Red Letter Daze won an honorable mention in the machine quilted wall quilts. It was a great show and the competition was pretty amazing. Anyone who had a quilt in the show should feel honored! Sorry you didn't get to go. Hope you get to make it to Houston! I'm counting the days!!

Thanks for the link Rita!

Sorry! I just realized that Barbara Black's Best of Show was in her guild show in Huntsville.

Congratulations ladies! Beautiful work!

Here's the link that I used - http://www.americanquilter.com/shows_contests/desmoines/2011/quilt_contest/quilt_winners.php Janet's quilting is just stunning.

Aw thanks Ritzy - I was only joking really. I don't think I could stop quilting if I tried. :D

Rita, we all can't win the pretty purple ribbons, but I'm so glad that they will share their work with us so we can see what's possible!

Can you possibly provide a link to photos of the winners??

Janet's quilt is amazing! I was just looking at all the winners online and they are all stunning quilts. I think I will give up now. I wonder if there is a 12 step programme for recovering quilters :?:

yeah!
i'm still planning on going to ireland next year - but can't make any actual bookings until (hopefully early) next year as i have to coordinate my vacation with our exhibitions and events - and much of that is still open :(
but have tentatively put in the vacation time so nothing but reallly unmoveable things can prevent my coming over - it's high time for another vacation in ireland as well.
