There is a quilt shop in Napa, small but fun - Quiltmaker (http://www.quiltmakernapa.com/); also a Hancocks, but I haven't been in it. In the East Bay area, off the 680 fwy are a few shops I enjoy: The Cotton Ball in Lafayette (home of C&T Publishing); The Quilters Inn in Danville; Thimblecreek in Concord. There are several others in the greater Bay area, a quilting mecca, but I haven't been to them. I really like Inbetween Stitches in Livermore, Alex's LQS, but that is probably too far south of SF to go to. Google San Francisco or Bay area quilt shops and see what you find. I hear there are some good ones in the Berkeley area, but again I haven't been there. I live at the northern extreme of Southern California, so I'm not an expert on the Northern CA shops.

Thanks Bonnie, I will check these out and plot my travels around some LQS! Much appreciated.

I am planning to be in San Francisco CA and Napa Valley July 19th for a week. If anyone has any quilt shops to recommend while I'm there, would love to get that info. Thanks Heather (Nepeanquilter)

We're not travelling this summer, but in the fall when my younger child is off to college we're taking a long weekend to visit New England.

Stops include the Bennington VT museum and the original Dear Jane quilt!!!!

Also, the textile museum in Lowell, MA. I'm sure we'll find a quilt shop or 2 along the way. My DH will have plenty of light houses to photograph, so he'll be happy too.

Emptying the nest is a great thing!!!! Nancy in western NY

'm going to Colorado in July for Ricky Tim's quilting retreat, plus the two day dyeing workshop before the retreat! Of course, I'll try to find all the quilt shops between California and Colorado on the route there.

We're going to Disney World in August with our Boy Scout band. They're playing there. Thank goodness for AC!!!

Then in October, we're heading to Washington, DC. DD Keri wants to see ALL the monuments and memorials; I am looking forward to the Smithsonian. Of course there will be a side trip to Great Falls, VA to Jinny Beyer's shop.

Fi, we'll have to try to connect in Rocklin. Are you going to stay in the dorm or in a hotel? I'll be in the dorm. I'll probably also get there pretty early. I'll be staying with a friend near there the night before, but she's got morning events, so I'll be on my own until registration at 2:30. I'm thinking I should try to get a TQS badge made ... Robin
