Anne,
I really feel your pain. So, I truly wish you luck.
I hope sharing my experience will help you. My PC died after a power failure a few weeks ago and HP replaced my hard drive, motherboard, video card and power supply. The PC was returned last Saturday and I'm still in the process of restoring software, data files, e-mail address lists, etc.
The good news is that I had a backup of my data files, but the bad news is that the last backup was on 12-31-08. So, I lost anything added or updated since then--I had to re-download my TQS 2009 BOM instructions for Jan, Feb & Mar. Going forward, I'll be making backups at least monthly and dusting behind my PC more often.
More bad news, HP restored all of my software back to what was originally installed when my PC was new in July 2006. Not a huge problem, except that I've been restoring software updates/fixes ever since--very time-consuming. My original PC software included Norton Antivirus, but I use McAfee Security. Since you can only safely use one PC antivirus, I had to uninstall Norton and reinstall McAfee. Everytime I reboot, I am notified to load more Windows, HP or AT&T automatic updates, which require more reboots--eventually, I suppose that I'll get all caught up. Also, I was previously using grandfathered versions of some software, like my AT&T Browser which is no longer being maintained. Some of the changes resulting from the repair have caused my PC to work differently and it's taking a while for me to adjust.
The best news is that I can now get back onto TQS!!!
