TOPIC: Houston 2009

30 Sep 2009 10:55 #38867

Well DH and I are in CA. We get back to TX on Thursday the 8th. MargaritaW and my dad fly in on Sunday the 11th. We leave for Houston on Tuesday the 13th. In those 4 days that we are home, I have a lot of prep for my class. I found out about the prep the day before we left to come to CA. Looking forward to seeing so many people there.

Frances,
Thanks for the confirmation. We have a room at the Hilton so it will be easy to drop it off at the hotel.

I will try to be there for the meet and greet most days. Since I live in Houston or at least I used to (ha) I will be seeing doctors, getting hair cut, cleaning teeth, all those fun things!

Some of you might not know or remember, but I'm in the process of migrating toward North Carolina/Georgia area to be closer to kids/grandkids so am usually in that part of the country now. Long story, but hubby and cats are in the Houston house, while I'm leasing a house in Georgia with the dog. We DO see each other 1-2 times a month as he travels extensively so it's not critical where I hang my hat. ha

Diane,
Yes you can bring your own machine. I've done that before. There is even a place on the second floor that will keep it for you so you don't have to haul it back to your hotel before going down to the floor to look around.

Question for anyone: I have been very frustrated in the past trying to use an unknown brand of machine. There was one class 2 years ago that the class was not interesting enough to overcome the frustration with the machine. I am planning on bringing my old Bernina 153 for the class. Has anyone been kicked out of a Houston class for this type of rebellion?

I have changed my profile picture in the hope that I might be more recognisable. The old one was DH at Grand Canyon but quite small, so decided I had better find a slightly larger piccy. Forgive the reflection on the specs. Three weeks today I will be in Houston. YEAHH! Pam

I registered last night for Ricky's luncheon and the Gala on Saturday night. If you are signed up for any classes the Gala is FREE!!! But you MUST sign up for the Gala to attend. If you have already registered, you can ammend your registration online to add the Gala. There will be live 50's/60's/70's music under the stars!! This is a huge celebration for the 35th anniversary of IQA and will be held across the street from the George R Brown in the park. Wouldn't it be fun to meet up with all the TQS's at the Gala?!?!? We only have like 47 days till Quilt Fest!!! We are going to have so much fun!!! Can't wait!
Happy Quilting,

Just a few more weeks until the Festival and it's looking like I'm going to be able to make it! :D I've signed up for some classes but am especially looking forward to our 1:00 rendezvous at the TQS booth, and I hope everyone will have a TQS badge in plain site!

Yahoo! I got my confirmation stuff in the mail yesterday. I'll be going to a lecture, sampler and RICKY'S LUNCHEON! I'm staying at Club Quarters too and can not wait to meet all of you. It's not too long now. I better get in training so I have the stamina for the whole show. Karen
