Starting at the top seems a great way to start your quilt showing career :D Well done for being brave enough to enter!

Connie, this is simply fantastic news! You deserve to be on cloud 9 for a long time! I hope you are going to Paducah to have the thrill of actually seeing your quilt hang there and watch people respond to it. I'm grinning ear to ear for you!

OMG!!! The Centennial Quilt has been juried into the AQS Paducah show next month! I am on cloud nine! I have never had a quilt in ANY show before, but, improbably, having a quilt hang at Paducah was a "bucket list" item for me. I love this quilt for so many reasons, but this is the frosting on the cake!

Ladies, thank you so much for your sage advice as I was shepherding this process along. It gave me the confidence to keep plugging along when things got perplexing. You all are the best! :!: :!: :!:

By the way, I used Libby Lehman's hanging sleeve technique for this project, and it worked like a charm! Using Wonder Tape made attaching the 90" wide sleeve a snap. If you haven't looked at her video on the TQS site yet, be sure to check it out!

I, too, use machine and hand quilting in the same project. Well done Connie!

Connie, that quilt is simply gorgeous!!

I often use hand- and machine work on the same project. I would love to do more by hand but then nothing would ever get finished. :)

Connie, it is so beautiful! And so great that you could get some hand quilting in on it and get it finished in time. Thanks for posting a photo of the finished quilt.

Connie, glad you enjoyed quilting the quilt, combining both methods, and a big thanks for letting us see the finished item. It looks great.

It worked! The combination of machine and hand quilting was perfect for this project. Machine quilting in the ditch for the sashing allowed me to tackle that phase by myself with reasonable efficiency. Hand quilting in the blocks with ladies (and a few gents!) from church was a real joy. I understand now why our foremothers loved quilting bees!
