Actually, the beauty of X-block quilts is that NO fabric is wasted. The 9 patches are trimmed by removing "triangles" from each side, and, and then those triangles can be used in the border.
I made one X-block quilt and it was quite easy and fast. I will probably make another.
I am looking for pictures or instructions or feedback about quilts made with the x-block ruler. Is it true that fabric is wasted? I'm looking for new class ideas that are quick to make yet interesting.
