Congratulations, Linda! Mine is on carpet, so I put sliders under the legs for when I want to move it. You may want to figure out a system for side tables to help hold large quilts. I'm seeing discussion on the Yahoo forum of a new cabinet with extensions on both sides, but it's $2000.

Have fun! I'm also eye-balling that snippet in the picture of a treadle machine. Does it work?

She's here - have to think of a name for her! We did go ahead and set it up but waiting for the rep to show me the ends-and-outs. Having problems getting on the yahoo group but working with the administrator. Thanks for all the advice!

Thanks, Marilyn & Kathy. I have watched Jamie's video but will re-watch. Have also heard of the Yahoo Group. Will have to figure that one out, never done that before. :?

:D :D :D Yay, you'll love it!

There's not much to the setup, but my dealer came to my house, set it up and ran through a checklist that I had to sign before Handi Quilter would release payment to him! so they really want the user to be completely oriented on the machine.

Learning about bobbin and upper tension is an adventure- Jamie Wallen's you tube video is v ery helpful. There's a Sweet Sixteen sitdown list on Yahoo Groups that I belong to that is helpful also.

And I appreciate it. I have read and watched tutorials about the set-up (supposedly relatively easy, as Happy stated). But I would prefer the rep doing it and giving me some pointers. Not too worried about the table set-up itself since I am lucky to have a very handy husband. It's the other "stuff" that I will need to know since this is definitely my first time with a machine like this. :?

Happy,
May I politely disagree with you? "nothing to it" is a relative term, depending on your skills. That table has to be assembled. If one is alone and sort of elderly (like me), there is a challenge.

On the yahoo hq forum, I read about people, not infrequently, who have problems loading bobbins and getting tensions set because they've never worked with a long-arm system. Their frustration can continue for weeks after they've spent their hard-earned dollars.
Usually, they set the machine up themselves with no dealer support because of the distance.

I found my in-home dealer set-up to be invaluable, given that I couldn't even lift the boxes that were delivered.

I just want Linda to know what is possible!

My dealer travels across all mid-Atlantic states, so don't let him/her give you any excuses! You seriously want them to walk you though the basics in the set-up and let them do the heavy work!

I'm sorry. My first name is Linda. I hadn't considered an extension table but I will definitely check one out. I will also find out if they deliver/set up. They may not since the shop is around 40 miles away from my house. Can't wait - will definitely post a pic (like you all don't know what it looks like!) when I do get it. EXCITING!

Dear LPollard, What's your first name?

Congratulations! I hope the dealer comes to your house to set it up. The other nice accessory, if money is no object  is a side extension for the table. I only have one, for my left hand. I also have a much less expensive plastic table from Costco for the other side.
