TOPIC: Mug Rug Exchange - Do it yourself style!

Re: Mug Rug Exchange - Do it yourself style! 19 Mar 2013 05:46 #99096

Hi I am kind of new to the forum so I don't know if I would qualify as a 'lounge lizard'.... Me, Me, Me, please! Connie I would love to swap with you. Anyone else want a mug rug from Ireland? I would probably have to make June the deadline though. :? Lisa thanks for the link to all those gorgeous little mug rugs, they tipped me over the edge. I think I could probably manage six or eight.

Lisa I hope the surgery goes well. It can't be fun being restricted by your own body. How long do they say it will take to recover?

I don't think I qualify as a lounge lizard,... yet I would LOVE to participate (I collected website bookmarks for mug rugs last year, think they are so neat!) BUT will have to postpone. I'm going to have my spine surgery in May, which will hopefully relieve the pain that prevents me from getting much sewing done. Between now and then, I have to put first priority on Amy Butler Laminates adult bibs for myself! Yep, I am thinking ahead to all the stuff I normally bend way forward for (so as not to mess my shirt/chest up), that I will not be able to bend forward for after surgery. Little things like eating, brushing teeth... So I plan to make a pattern for a large adult-woman bib, that has a gusseted catch-pocket along the bottom edge for the things that fall off my spoon, and bounce down my chest to my lap!

I may make a "hip holster" with pockets to carry light things too... I'll be restricted to lifting <2 pound items, but since my hips are below the surgery site, I think I should be able to carry things on my hips and keep my hands free for the walker or the cane or whatever.

Don't know how soon I'll be able to sit at the sewing machine after May... please may I look for mug rug exchange takers this summer or fall? Oh, and please wish me luck... this is usually safe, but it's still risky surgery. I am very hopeful for getting my active life back :D Although I will have to be smarter about doing things that could re-damage my back, or undo the scoliosis repair. Hehe, guess that's obvious, silly me!
I would suggest a couple of toweling bibs for teeth brushing.... Good luck with the surgery, and don't be a stranger here! (well any stranger than the rest of us  :P )

Just a thought - it would probably be a very good idea if everyone signed their mug rugs to make it easier on the recipient to remember who made which one  since there are so many multiples swapping around.

OK, I am in, it sounds a lot easier that the other swaps. Anyone want to swap with me in Scotland :?: :?: I could possibly make one or two a month in between other things. At least my CW quilt is done :D :D :D

Hey Robyn, fab that you're in this too. I obviously need a mug rug from scamp's mom. He's my absolute hero!
Connie, if you're not booked yet, I'd love to be one of your over-the-ocean's

Actually, I would love to swap with everyone of you lovely friends here on TQS... But I do know that won't be possible... Well not in the near future anyway...
I'll try to do one a month and that should get us on the road...

Mug Rug websites.... for your enjoyment m'dears :D

http://tipnut.com/mug-rugs/

I have more saved, but this message keeps blanking out while I'm on the other tab collecting the next URL. They are usually large enough for a mug of your favorite beverage, and one or more baked goodies to eat with said beverage :D

Hi you sweet ladies! Thanks for the good wishes, SO much! Words fail me....

I'll have a torso "cast" that velcros on, at first.. but I should be able to put my hip-holster/bag over the top. Great ideas Lotti and Connie! :D It's exactly those types of things I want to keep close once DH is back at work and I'm home alone. I am blessed to have great friends here in our neighborhood, who have offered to make a schedule to check in on me, and hang out when I am doing stuff that requires a person in the room for safety. Aren't they the coolest? :D :D :D

And yes, Wendy, I have that "food trouble" all the time already, but 90% of the time I avoid messing my shirt by bending way far forward. Last night I was brushing my teeth... and I thought.... "hey, you won't be able to do this post-surgery! you won't be able to bend forward to wash your face at the sink either... what can you do about this?" And I started to think about bibs, etc... and ways to put things at reachable height that I now have to bend over to grab. It's a weird process to think about, at a relatively young age.

And Lotti, Nancy, Robyn and Connie... I LOVE that you're willing to trade Mug Rugs with me down the road, once I'm sewing again! Woohoo! I'm so jazzed! You don't know me from Adam yet, but you're reaching out regardless! Big hugs to you!

Big hugs to EVERYBODY! :D

I would also love to swap with Ritzy, since she's from my home state of Indiana. I may not be a Lounge Lizard, but I do qualify as a Region Rat! :)

Lisa, sorry to hear that you'll be recuperating from surgery, but hopefully the result will make all the inconveniences along the way worthwhile. I have a tip for you... A few years ago I broke my hip in a bicycling accident. During my convalescence on a walker, then crutches, my best friend was a carpenter's apron. It had pockets big enough to hold a sandwich (and other necessities), but not so long that it got in the way or tempted me to carry too much.

I would love to swap mug rugs with you when you're "back in the saddle". :D

Sue, I'm available any time for the swap!

As far as the rest of you lovely ladies, I'm too new to qualify as a Lounge Lizard, so I guess that makes me a Lounge Larva. I would be thrilled to do at least one swap across an ocean, if anyone has room on their dance card!

This is so cool! I'd love to be involved. It would be lovely to have something else from the SoTTTs and WotRoTTs! ....and the "lounge lizards" I haven't met yet too!
I'm open to offers from everyone :D :D . I think, if I'm being realistic, I could manage to do 2 each month. Would love to do more but we'll have to see see how we go ..........as my favourite singer, Newton Faulkner, says "sometimes life gets in the way" :)

Rosemary, Lois, Lotti and Terrie - do you have a spot for me on your lists?

Lisa -

I'll be ready when you are! Just let me know when you're back in commission -- you'll find me here, lounging around as usual. Good luck with the surgery!
