Beautiful muggies folks! Is this a great exchange or what!!!
A note on shipping overseas:
I've received so many different instructions, some times even at the same post office. The main things to remember:
Fabric doesn't break! Fabric can be washed! So don't pack them in all these protective packages... Makes the envelopes fat and bulky which in turn makes them expensive!
Think quilted postcards!
Place in regular envelope, if needed fold once.
Declare as 'present' or 'gift (never as merchandise!)
Declare a value of $10 or less - hey they're just fabric scraps sewn together - you're absolutely not lying!
Declare item as: 'fabric postcard'
I wouldn't mention the word quilt, those who know quilts will think valuable, and those who don't know quilts, will be confused and might find it inspection worthy.
Postcards are well known, 'cheap' and certainly just a greeting card, a postcard made of fabric isn't so much different.
If you can mange to get it sent as a 'letter', you'll pay only a few dollars, as soon as it's being turned into a parcel, even if small packet, it becomes more expensive, easily four to ten times the cost of a letter - and we all would much rather spend that on fabric or thread or embellishments (or even chocolate)
