You are not going to believe what I got in the mail this week from our very talented and generous friend, Brenda! She made me the most wonderful mug rug called "The Yellow Rose of Texas":
The colors are beautiful and it's beautifully made. It's hard to see in the picture, but the state of Texas is perfectly quilted in the solid area:
I hope you can see it because it's wonderful, but I know my picture doesn't show it well. And on the back, some wonderful Texas fabric:
I feel like I received a part of Brenda and it's just wonderful!! But she didn't stop there. She also included some gifts that literally made me tear up (I'm getting more and more sappy as I get older....). First, some beautiful gift tags that I probably won't be able to get myself to give away to anyone else:
And another gift that it took me a second to figure out what it was because I was completely stunned:
Can you believe it? This is the pattern for the block that she made, cut from a 1929 newspaper. This is so special and I am so touched that I don't even know what to say beyond thank you so, so much! I'm touched!!
I've had a mug rug in my mind for a couple of weeks now for you, but (believe it or not) I didn't have the right fabric in my vast stash. I finally got that ordered and will get working once it arrives. I'll try to include the outline of Colorado in the quilting for you...
Thanks again! (Now to go wipe my eyes again....)
