What's this Alden Lane you're all in raptures about?

Charae, I hope you will post pictures of your project with Susan. Will the class be on fabric sculpture? I'm praying for you that the weather will be somewhat less that boiling. Maybe those oaks give plenty of respites from the sun.

Wendy, I'm kind of laughing about your frog, having been talked into watching a few episodes of Duck Dynasty where the guys go bullfrog hunting and the woman does a cooking show on how to cook them. Never ate one myself, but I hear they taste like ChickeN!

Vicki, beautiful mug rug! I know I've missed commenting on many, having only had time to lurk, but wow, they are all beautiful. I, myself, am more that half way through the next batch, remembering that half is the backing

Lovely Lorchen, really? Scotch in the Supermarket? That's funny!

Cheers to all!
Yes, Sue, it's fabric sculpture. Entitled 3D Adventures: Beasts in the Jungle. I am NOT artistic and usually interpret instructions a little different than the rest of the world so this is really a stretch for me -- hopefully it won't be frustrating. My favorite quilts have always had a little 3D element, though, so I am really excited to learn anything I can from Susan. Livermore is usually boiling this time of year, but being of a certain age I know to carry a little electric fan and an extension cord. I have no shame!

Rita--I was so upset that the sweater didn't fit that I gave it to my daughter without taking a picture. So, I will have to wait until I am down her way and try to remember to take the camera.
Rosemary--I knew that jumper was a sweater. Here a jumper is a loose fitting dress that is worn over a shirt. OR--jumper cables which are used to hook on battery up to another battery to make a car run.

Charae, thank you so much for the invitation. We could then kneel and kiss the ground together, starting a new tradition. :)

But I will have to retire first before planning any exciting travelling. And right now I'm not so sure about when to take that step. When I'm working with the kids, I want to go on, but when I have to deal with some colleagues who get away with blue murder because they kiss a part of my line manager's body she normally sits on, I want to retire asap. Big decision. The earliest time to escape will come at the end of July next year. Big sigh..... Decisions, decisions......

I never get to Houston or Paducah, but Livermore is just up the road apiece and I do get to take advantage of Quilting in the Garden. I have taken several really good classes there, including a hand quilting class from Alex a couple of years ago. Lorchen, I never really thought about kneeling down and kissing the ground at Alden Lane although I certainly should because there's always lots of quilting nobility in attendance at this event. I guess I'm just too busy looking up at all of the spectacular quilts hanging from the oak trees. It is fabulous! Next year, come on over. DH and I have a spare guest room and I know the way to Livermore, too!

Wow, I had a quilting weekend! The first in a long time. Norma, your mug rug is posting today. Rita, I will have your mug rug finished and in mail by end of week. I was seriously delayed by unexpected trips to Montana, Wyoming and Colorado over the last month. I am taking a class from Susan Else at Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore (Quilting in the Garden) on Thursday and Friday. It's so great to be in sewing mode again!

Oh, I'll be on the outlook for that
Enjoy your trip to Alden Lane Nursery. I just envy you a little bit
