Lucky lucky you Michelle to get to see Edyta in person. I am sure it was inspirational. Your reels look very promising. Good luck with the rest and I look forward to seeing it all together. It does take some time but it will be worth it in the end. :D

Lots of you are getting things done... We are getting lots of rain in SD, (huge change from last years drought) so the haying work has come to a screeching halt, so tomorrow I will get to finish the button hole stitching on my spool quilts outer boarders, then my long arm quilter will get it in the mail. How is the book coming? It is midnight here so I am off to bed. Night all.

Those spools are looking great. So great to see these spool quilts starting to appear...
Especially as mine are still only being played with once in a while and then go back into their little bag for safe keeping :)

Lorna, Your quilt is going to be beautiful too. Don't you just love it when you become inspired and the urge to create cannot be deny. Can't wait to see the work on this quilt during various stages of construction.

Susan, your Spools quilt is wonderful!

Last month at guild, Edyta Sitar was our speaker. She was AMAZING! So friendly, energetic, inspirational, humble and funny. Her lecture was called "Reasons for Quilts" and she showed about 80 quilts and told about each one!! Each quilt was prettier than the one before it. I saw her SOTTT quilt and her Spools quilt - both are wonderful!

Well, after that trunk show, I decided my reels had marinated long enough! I went out and bought my background batik, and sorted through my stash to find tops and bottoms for each reel. Tonite, I sewed my first two and I am having so much fun! Like Susan, I will be making the Spool quilt from Edyta's book (which I bought there and she autographed!).

Here's a pic of my first two spools. More to come...

Oh, and if you ever have the chance to see Edyta, DO IT!!! You will be blown away and so inspired!

Fabulous quilt Susan. Well done! And so quickly too... I keep getting sidetracked, and now that my Friends found out that my Brother Receiver a quilt for his 50th Birthday, they're all making hopefully hints. Of course they're all getting One too, i only wish we were not all practically the Same Age... Busy busy busy is what I'll be in the next couple of years, but I so want to turn all my reels into beach huts soon!!!

:) Thanks for all wonderful comments. I just followed the pattern in Edyta's book. I loved the pattern so much that I didn't want to change anything. I am going to put a label on the back with everyone's names so I will remember where they all came from.

I can't wait to see some of the other quilts finished.

Susan, that its a gorgeous quilt. Love the reel laying down and one of the vines coming from it. Also love the scissors, the hearts and the blue birdie. I see the two blocks I made :)

Got to get started working on mine. Great inspiration. :D
