You are right Shirley!!! :D At minute 49 in the episode Ricky did mention it! And aren't we glad that he and Alex and Edyta sent HSTs for us!!

I think it was Ricky who casually suggested we start an HST triangle exchange after Edyta's presentation.

I remember that Ricky and Alex were in Africa on their quilt safari when a suggestion was made on the forum to do an exchange. Snowball is the right word, it just took off! Within a week it was huge. What a great idea that was, too. Kathy

Paula, if I remember correctly, AARJ didn't really start the exchange. It was a grass-roots phenomenon that just snow-balled after we watched the TQS episode #802 with Edytar Sitar last January.

Here is the very beginning of the discussion: forum/the-quilt-shows-discussions-and-questions/4240-show-802-edyta-sitar

I think helping to get our SOTTS project going was one of the smartests things The Quilt Show could have done. Now for sure we will all keep renewing our memberships! We have to keep in touch with our new sisters!

Carol, your quilt is beautiful! I sure hope to have my projects finished in time for the 1/1/12 deadline so they can be featured in your documentation. I can't believe how much fun I have had with those HSTs!

Carol, I love your pattern. I'm still trying to determine the background fabric I want to use in mine--at least I'm getting closer to starting!! I'd like to get it completed in time for your book also.

Carol,
What a great idea! I'd love to be a part of it. This will give me incentive to get working on my quilt - I really need to decide on a design. Yours is looking awesome so far.

Carol, I love your quilt. Each time someone posts a picture I can't help thinking, oh I would like to make that! I think I need a bottomless basket of our hst's.

I need to share with you how I am coming on my Waves of Friendship. I love how it is coming together. Each block is so very special. I try to make one a night. Then when I have enought for a row I sew a row together and add it. Oh, I am just lovin this!!!! In what I have so far there are 204 HST. As you can see I have a lot more to go. My quilt will finish to approx 90 x 98. I can't wait to get it done. Thanks to all of you for your wonderful triangles. My heart is so touched!!!

Louise--I am not a purple girl but I love the pattern of that purple quilt.

Carol--I don't have mine done but when I do I will send you a picture.

Ritzy, you will have plenty of time to get it done. The final deadline is not until Jan. 1, 2012 to have everyone submit their stories and project pictures. An announcement will be coming out in the TQS Newlettter and the Daily Blog. I am so excited!!!! I have been working with Lilo and TQS this going to help me get the word out. I want to get as many S.O.S. (Save Our Story) of the SoTTT and Batik Exchanges as possible. I hope this will be a book we will all enjoy reading and sharing with one another. It is so amazing to me what is happening with these HSTs. Our little HSTs have traveled far and wide and have touch so many hearts. I am so glad you are in mine quilt and I am in yours. Take care my friend and hope to see you again at one of the shows!!!!
