There is a fine line between keep going and pushing just a little and doing too much. If I were near Canton, MI we'd get those buggers up in no time. Be patient and don't give up. I need not say that I've read your posts. It will happen soon. Lois

Teresa, this is lovely. Margo, great feather for this quilt.

I've had some improved mobility in the last couple weeks so going to try this weekend to put up foam insulation boards glued to my garage drywall to have a wall like Patsy Thompson showed to spray baste my quilts. I hope I can manage this. I had to laugh at the poor guy at Home Depot yesterday trying to get the 2 4'x8' sheets into my van. I finally asked him if he could cut them in half, thinking I would get 4 sheets at 4x4. I stayed in the car because my chair was already loaded in it. He came back with 4 sheets at 2'x8' lol!!

Congratulations Patti! What a wonderful way to celebrate new found mobility. I'll be eager to hear how getting them on the wall goes. I think glueing them in place sounds like a fine idea. An added benefit for you having the design wall in the garage is that I think its probably well out of the way of breezes from your hair dryer. Good luck. Duck tape worked fine with my insulations boards. I was stewing about whether or not to prewash my flannel. Decided not too. Just a gut instinct. But then later I discovered that even though the cloth was not stretched quite as tight as it would have been if I had another person helping a spray bottle of water accomplished a perfectly smooth surface. If it sags a little with time I'll be glad the fabric was not preshrunk. Good luck! Lois

Arlene,

I love, love, love your quilt and Margo's label. Two great quilting minds for sure!!!

Is this another new photo of our very own Debbie Wolf? Love it and seeing the many happy faces of your personality, Debbie! COOL BEANS! 8)

Hugs,
Shirley

Thanks, Shirleykins! That picture was taken this summer. It's overlooking the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River at Artist's Point. Everything is so beautiful in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. There's a different photo opp every time you turn a corner!

See you and I hope a LOT of other SoTTTs in Houston next week. Save travels to all!

Well, I think the 2 ft by 8 ft might be easier to handle when covering and hanging.

That's a good sized feather for me and I like a "softer" quilt. I am liking how the colors turned out too.

Teresa, Love your quilt especially the colors you've added to our HST's. I love how Margo continues to help us with quilting suggestions in ways that challenge us to learn more about the technology that helps us do our work. Also love hearing about the calves being weaned. I love having a sense of what is going on in my fellow quilters' lives. Although I am sure that the calves crying for their mothers gets a little old when you are right there its kind of nice to imagine what that might sound like and know how very different your life is than my own. The thing that's the same is our love of quilting. Thanks for sharing a bit of life on the ranch along with the progress you are making on that wonderful quilt. Lois

Margo,
How did you get the design on her photo?? fabulous....
Jeanine

Jeanine, I "saved" her photo to my computer by right clicking on it, then "save image as" to a designated folder.

I opened the photo in MS Paint and used the "pencil" tool to draw the feathers. It is difficult to draw with a mouse, so I use the stylus that came with my Wacom Bamboo Tablet so it's more like drawing with a pencil.

Mine came with PhotoShop Elements software, which is really great, but for quick things like this, MS Paint works just fine, and most PCs can do this by drawing with a mouse.

Check out my tablet here: http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Bamboo-Pen-and-Touch/dp/B002OOWC3S

Here is a review of the product: http://www.mactrast.com/2011/03/review-wacom-bamboo-pen-touch/

I am probably only using about 10% of the functions of the tablet, but it works great for drawing quilting motifs to try on a photo!
