Hi all,
Well, now I am sorry I did not make thousands of these HST since it was so cool to have such a wonderful splattering from all over the world. Anyone interested in doing this again????? I would love to, but don't know how to go about it. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know, I would certainally get more involved with the sorting if need be.

Re: Received HST's 22 Apr 2011 22:40 #63144

Yesterday, I was about to do some housework, dust & sweep, when I decided to get the mail first. :D IT'S HERE!!! :D I literally spent the rest of day the playing with my triangles. I pulled off any excess thread & trimmed fraying edges and looked at each name (I wanted to draw out my time with my gems). Then I opened each one and finger pressed open so I could see each and every one. I'm certainly glad no one was around, because as I opened each one I exclaimed something - "I llike that one", "wow", "ooh", "I likey", "pretty", well you get the picture. I had a great time playing & can't wait to iron them (imagine wanting to iron!). And I was happy to see so many international ones - 66 triangles from 8 countries!

I want to express my gratitude to ALL those involved in making this happen, including all who sewed their little fingers to the bone making triangles. This was my first exchange/swap and it won't be my last!

I have received my HST envelope and was tickled silley to read the locations of some of the makers. How cool that I have blocks from all over the world. Some people did not read the rules....by sending already pressed open blocks, and some with no names, but who cares. This was wonderful and I was very impressed that they are all the same size because of the paper we all sewed on.

Would love to partake in another one of these swaps......only because of the accuracy in the finished HST. Kudos to those that spent endless hours, days, weeks separating them to make the rest of us so happy. Thank you,

Yippee! They finally arrived, yes, a jumbled mass in the envelope. Just loved it!!! I had the best time sorting through and seeing all the names and places. I almost don't want to tear the papers off! I had so much fun, I'm hosting an exchange in my guild here in St. Louis. Thanks to all the VOLUNTEERS who worked so hard!

I seem to be having trouble posting correctly. I returned from 92 degrees in Florida to a cold 38 degrees in Iowa, but I warmed up when I saw my triangles had a arrived. Oh joyful day. I have bored everyone I know talking about my triangles. They are so beautiful, I've only peeked at a few but love them all. I'm putting all the names, countries and states on my spreadsheet. I'm not finished but what a history lesson, I've stopped several times to look up towns. I've only typed in US and Canada so far. I have 38 states and many doubles, In fact I got 23 from one person so will go to the exchange to see if anyone needs some, but need to get them all listed. My count is up to 445.

Thanks you Margo, Debbie, Clara (I got 3 of yours) and all those other wonderful helpers. Great job!

I received my HST's today too! I mailed in my own HST's and another 3 members to minimize mailing. We didn't each get HST's from Edyta, Alex, Ricky and Margo ... but THAT'S FINE! We'll deal with it. How awesome to have such a variety of HST's to use in my Mountain Top quilt. Thank you for all your hard work!

Beth...I will be sending you an email about that! I'm glad you brought it up.

Re: Received HST's 21 Apr 2011 17:51 #63000

Yesterday my pkg. of triangles came in the mail. My son called me on my way home from work to let me know that I had a pkg. and why did I mail something to my self, with the address and return address that same? I immediately realized that it was the triangles, and could not wait to get home and open the pkg. What a thrill to see fabric from all over the USA and the world. I plan on buying Edyta's book and using the triangles to make one of her quilts. I am also trying to figure out how to save the papers and make a chart to match the triangles on the quilt so I know where each triangle came from. I wish everyone had signed their papers, but sometimes people just don't have the time or other circumstances don't allow. I want to thank everyone who put so much time into sorting and making sure everyone got their fair share of triangles. What a job it must have been. Thank you again so very much, and God bless you all. HAPPY EASTER Savannahlady

I read all your comments and was not surprised at your comments I'm sorry but I'm still unhappy about what i found when I opend the bag I have pictures I have since sorted them into stacks of 28 and put a book on them to press them out I was happy to find about 50 from Canada,Australia, Netherlands , Scotland, and England I think this was probably a bigger job than anyone of you realized If and when I make a Quilt I'll show it off I plan to save the papers with names and adress on them when I tear them off so I can see all the different states I am sorry to all who were offended Can I stay ? LETS MAKE A HST QUILT !!! jean082
My only feelings is that if you were unhappy about how this exchange has been conducted then perhaps you should organise the next one to make sure that it comes up to your standards.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the experience. I am still waiting for my HST so cant comment on the condition, but It won't be anything that can't be fixed. I would never expect perfectly pressed HST being returned, and part of the fun is sorting through to see where they all came from. As for the Thangles, I also used thangles. It never said that you had to use Edyta's paper product. I preferred to support my LQS and use what they had. Congratulations to all who worked on this project. You did a wonderful job despite the mountain of HST you had to traverse.

Personally, I do not want anyone to be disappointed in any exchange - but you must remember those of us who have volunteered to manage the trades have NO control over what fabrics people buy and then put together, the post office, sewing or cutting skills, etc.

I always refer back to a national teacher who gave a lecture at my guild - she said when you are involved in a trade of any sort you must "learn to lower your expectations". I have been in many trades since I heard this statement. This philosophy definitely works - I use everything I get and am happier with the results.

I am managing the batik strip exchange and have gotten strips neatly folded into separate small baggies - such pretty packages!! Of course this is one person taking her time to make her own individual neat stacks - not 30 people working with 250,000 hst's, or in my case 23,000 strips soon to be sorted.

Everyone should be happy to have the opportunity to get involved - use your iron and make something awesome. :D :D :D
